Well, my dealer called me today with news on my 2006 Laramie Mega 6 speed I ordered on March 8. Seems that he was told by his factory man that there are too many Mega's out on the market now and the Saltillo factory has temporarily stopped building them - for maybe 6 weeks. Ford and GM have flooded the market with 2006 trucks, and they are already worried about getting rid of all of them before the 2007's roll out. My sales guy says that may or may not be true, as DC is a big company and sometimes things get lost in the translation. But his word is that I may or may not get it in the 2006 model year.

Anyone hear anything to confirm or deny this?

I bet you could find something to your likeing from another dealership, there may be some truth to it, DC offered 0% last month, this month They are offering $3000 plus $1000 bonus cash, These are some pretty steep discounts for this time of the year. This is more of something you would see on '06 models in august and september, I am holding out hoping 0% returns for next month, Then I am gonna pull the trigger on a truck

From what I understand and have heard word of mouth, is DC only offers that 0. 0% 2 months of the year... ... From What i was told they normally do it in mrach like they did and once again in Sept, Oct, just before the 07's hit the floor..... Like i said though thats word of mouth from dealership?????????

I ordered my 06 Mega on 3/10 and my dealer told me today that it would be shipped from Mexico on 5/9. That trip may take 2-3 weeks he said. So who knows, maybe in my driveway by 6/1. I'll let you know if they change the dates.

It's coming...

Well, Saltillo decided to build the truck after all. Should be built mid-late May and should be here in June. If you want to order a 2006, my advice is to do it now.

it's Here - 10 Weeks Later

The mega that I ordered on March 8th showed up today. It will be ready to pick up by the end of the week.

You guys are lucky as I said in other threads mine was ordered 2/22 and was shipped on 5/12 with a est. delivery date of 6/6

Most model year build outs end sometime in April. For some popular models that will occur in March. That is probably what has happened. They take the orders but they will only build to a certain date and stop until the new model year. If yours doesn't get built before then, it won't.

That means that you can't order that model year any longer and the new model year won't be available to order until mid June. That doesn't mean the dealer won't take your order, they just can't order from Chrysler until the ordering window opens up.

It can get frustrating. I ordered vehicles for our dealership for 6 years. It took me a couple years to figure out their ordering methods.

Also, if you order a vehicle with a particular option and that option is not available, your vehicle will not be built until that option is available. At the end of the model year build that can be a problem and prevent some vehicles from being built and shipped. They will just drop the order. I would guess that it is way too late to order any 2006's, unless they are going to have a very late 2007 introduction.

I heard May 12th was the cuto-off date for orders. I sent in mine May 11, and on May 16 I had a VIN number. According to my inventory manager, once you have a VIN number it will be built. Must wait now for actual build date, and it should ship within a week of that and arrive here in Phoenix two weeks later. We'll see...

If you order a truck and something happens that keeps it from being built, what recourse is there? Afterall, you most likely had to put a down payment on it and then they can't deliver? I'm pretty sure if you order and back out there are repercusions of the $$$ kind!

I just got off the phone with DC Customer Care - Been tracking my Girlfriends new 06 Larimie all the way from Saltillo - it has arrived in Newark and is being unloaded from the Union Pacific railcar as we speak. The truck was ordered 3/28, and we had its VIN on 4/10. We were also told by DC that it LEFT Saltillo on 4/29, and cleared the border @ Vera Cruz into the US on 5/15. Arrived Newark 5/24. Compared to the nearly 6 months it took to get my Dad's 05 Hemi Magnum AWD, this truck moved like lightning. I think its amazing how much this process varies from person to person and vehicle to vehicle. Even our salesman (John O'Malley, Bergen Dodge) was surprised at the speed. That is quite odd to me.

If your truck went thru Vera Cruz it most likely went by ship, not rail car. Usually goes from factory to the port (vera cruz) by rail car though.

Once on the ship I doubt they'd transfer to rail car in the US. Most likely went to port of Newark via ship from Vera Cruz.

Mine went from Vera Cruz to Port of Baltimore. Took 3 or 4 weeks to get delivered to dealer once in the port.

Total was about 13-14 weeks.

Good Luck with your truck!!!!

This is true. Vera Cruz is around 500 miles SE of Saltillo (2 days train ride). If your truck went to Vera Cruz, its going for a boat ride! I know they dock in Baltimore, not sure about Newark. Hope it don't get sea sick :{

18 weeks from order to delevery for me, but loving it now that its here!

My '06 is still being built. It was ordered around 21 April. I understand it will be a couple weeks sitting before it gets on the train, and a couple weeks here. Expect delivery around 25 June... pickup around the first of July.

Can't wait to drive the truck... CAN wait for the payment!!

sonorakitch,

Congrats, But you guys are killing me. The wait for me is almost over Oo.

Is it just me or is everybody getting Inferno red :D

Boat or Train?

Sorry TASK, but it looks as if we will have our truck before you  ... ... It is sitting in Newark as we speak, and that has been confirmed both by the dealer and by DC Customer Care. Being P/U Tues morning for delivery that afternoon. And NO, not everyone is waiting on Inferno Red - ours is Patriot Blue (however, my '86 Daytona C/S Turbo Z is FLASH Red :D ).

I have now heard conflicting stories about the Boat/Rail Car trip. Mapquest brings up 4 different locations for Saltillo, and shows Vera Cruz near Nuevo Laredo. Separate maps show a WHOLE different story. One salesman told me it was coming off the boat, and DC CC said it was on a rail car. :( All I know is she is READY to go get her new truck, and she cares very little about how it got to the dealer. :)

Hahahaha... its funny. I went down there to get a Patriot Blue quad cab longbed and ended up ordering one of these! The gal gave me a MegaCab Inferno Red to test drive only because it was the only truck on the lot that had a 6 speed! Drove it and fell in love with the color... in the Arizona sun it glows with a copper hue. Real pretty.

Goliathgmc,

I gave up trying to figure out DC. I am sure it is a dollar issue why they send trucks the way they do. I wish mine went to Newark I could go visit it when I am at work on sun :-laf right now mine should be in Baltimore. with an est delivery date of 6/6/6 Nice date to get an Inferno red truck
