Well, after 135k I upgraded to a 4" Magnaflow exhaust from the turbo back(the old one fell off past the muffler) and now the new sound is making me itch for more power. The truck is a daily driver and I just want some more power, but not too much to dump the automatic transmission out the back. Seems like too many options to choose from and sort out, which would be the best bang for the buck (don't want to spend a fortune).

I also read about the . 22 shell to change wastegate pressures but haven't been able to see the installation/explanation of how this goes in. My wastegate is hard lined. Can anyone explain or describe this?

depending on the build date of your truck, your truck may have an HX35 turbo.

Have you check the wastegate? If it is a hardline then I would would use the tst j hook. Great product for the money

I am betting it is the HY35, but like BOB said if you got an early early 2000 it could have the HX35. Edge comp is a good option. If you know your not going insane with power then a SMARTY could be a good choice.

Thanks for the input. I don't know how to tell which turbo I have, but I know the wastegate has a hard line on it. If I turnbuckle it off (I assume this is what the J hook does), then is it correct to assume that you allways get max boost... isn't this bad????

You don't always get max boost, you just raise the boost limit. Higher boost alone does not equal more power. More fuel + more air = more power. If you raise your boost limit (J-hook or whatever), you need a boost fooler so you don't set an overboost code and the check engine light. Pretty much all box/programmers do the boost fooling feature.
