Yes the turbo is loud. . louder than anything else probably not but I have AFE stage 2 and the stock turbo was loud also. But it sounds mean. . not annoying!! Todd it will smoke well if you lugg it. . but so does anything else. If you bring the boost up to 10psi then nail it the smoke is faint because your instantly at 38psi... . thats at 3x3 and sw6. But if you want to stop a 4 lane interstate run 5x5 sw8 and lugg it at 55mph locked in OD... . looks like a thunderstorm rolled in. . lol... cannot see any cars behind me... . but I'll only do that if someone pisses me off bad!! Like a Dura-turd ridin my bumper close. . LOL... ... . cya guys... . Cant wait to tow my camper and post!

that 71mm turbine sounds sweet out the tailpipe, doesn't it? :)

the 62mm compressor isn't THAT loud... durn near silent compared to my old 6 blade HX40... and a good deal quieter than the sb66 ran for a bit.

Buddy,

Why are you concerned that you aren't getting over 38psi boost? I would have thought with the bigger turbo and lesser system restriction all around that you'd be sitting happy at 38psi.

I appreciated your detailed description of the turbo and am really thinking this one's for me.

I can bury my stock turbo right off the 35psi gauge, but I know all that boost is just heat and unburnt fuel... .

Well Tim, You are correct the stock turbo is only efficient at around 30-32psi then your blowing alot of hot air! But the 62ss should be good to at least 50-55psi, I'm looking for 40-42psi to be safe on the stock head... why you ask because if 36-38 is good then 40-42 must be better!!! Also looking to help out the egts if possible and pick up a few horsepower. As you know you can never have enough horsepower or torque. Also I'am happy with it but if I can have more for free... ? Do it! Also keep in mind I'm running 354's with 35" tires. . I'm at 85mph at 2000rpm. Which does not help out the turbo at all... works against it ? Soon I will be swapping to 410's to bring it back... can't wait. . it takes time and tweeking to dail these trucks in! oh ya and money. . lol

My 62/71/13 SS is starting to leak out from between the housings. Time for service. Shaft still feels tight though. Installed in 2008. About 80,000 miles on it. I don't see these turbos listed on HTT's site anymore. Repair might not be so easy without parts.
