I am looking at the Extang Trifecta signature series, the best price I have found is $389, does anyone have any experience with these? They are similar to the Lund Tri-fold but have a different material.

Trifecta Signature

A guy at work has one of these and it sure is nice but it also costs $750, the thing has fiberglass panels under it so you could stand on it but it folds up and can be removed in minutes.

Truxedo Low Profile

I've got a Truxedo Low Profile soft tonneau on my 2005 SB CTD and I really like it. I had a hard tonneau on my previous CTD and hated it after awhile because it really limited the use of the bed of the truck. It took two guys to remove it from the truck if I wanted to haul something that stuck up above the rail of the bed.

The Truxedo soft tonneau rolls up in 20 seconds and fastens out of the way and has a lifetime warranty. I have it installed over my bed rail protectors and bed liner in my 05 and it keeps the weather out pretty well as it secures along the sides with Velcro and the rear most support bar latches at the rear.

I would highly recommend it... ... ... ..... Lektrikman

I also have the Access Roll-up cover on my 2004 Quad Cab short bed which I installed shortly after purchasing the truck. I am still very happy with it. Since I had a dealer-installed under-the-rail drop-in bed liner, I added vinyl bed rail covers before installing the Access cover since the Access cover mounts inside the bed rails. The cover itself is easy to roll/unroll and is fairly weather tight. I'd recommend taking a look at it.

Lund Genesis Tri-fold here. Works great easy to open and shut. No holes. Can be folded forward and run that way. Easy to remove completely to load Quad or firewood.

I have the Truxedo plus that comes with a toolbox. Small box right behind the cab, then the tonno back to the tailgate. I like it but:

The toolbox opens from the tonno side, so when there is water collected on the tonno it goes in the box. The tailgate must be lowered to release the tonno. This would not bother me if the tailgate locked, but since it is not secure, why not allow me to roll it up without lowering the gate.

The velcro has held up very well, been on for about 1. 5 years.

Try the following for some info.

I just got a 4 panel Fold-A-Cover from TruckAddOns.com below at a good price. They seemto carry most all the popular covers. I know mines not a soft cover but my next door neighbor liked it so much he ordered one also. Then a good friend of mine saw it and also ordered one.

Check out

Their prices were pretty good and all three of us got our covers within a week.

Hope this helps.

PS - The Fold-A-Cover locks the tailgate. The cover itself clamps on the bed and the only holes I had to drill were two small holes in the tailgate for the locking tab.

I really like this one and would order it, but it doesn't come in short bed!! Anyone know of a source for this one for a short bed truck? Thanks!

I am seriously thinking about getting a soft tonneau for my truck, What are you guys using and is there anything that attaches permanently to the tailgate.

Thanks!

I had a pace-edwards roll top on my last dodge (94 dakota) for 12 years. When I traded it in on my 2500 it was slightly faded, but still worked great. Truck was never garaged or covered in all that time. The roll top locked, and I purchased a tailgate lock too, so I was able to secure things in the bed when I traveled. The roll top doesn't actually attach to the tailgate, it just presses against the gate to form a loose seal. Good luck with your search - plenty of tops and opinions to choose from!

I also have an Access Cover, my second one, and got it for around $350. Easy to install, and this is my second one. Had the first one on an '05 Tundra. The cover wears very well. The one on my Ram is the Low Profile, which looks better than the standard model.

The Tundra had an electric rear window. The new Ram has the electric sliding center section rear window. At low speeds, with the windows down, you can hear the tonneau cover rattle a little. At anything above 40 mph on a good road, much less on a dirt or rough road, you don't hear it. My hunting buddy noticed it. I heard it for awhile, then stopped fussing about it, and it doesn't ever bother me.
