was thinking about a scanner for codes butttttttt--i just got the little wifee a laptop-DUUUUUUGH-----can i get pointed in the right direction-Thanks:eek:

Do either of these read the extended codes, or just the Core OBDII? I've heard there is one out there that will read sensors in the automatic transmission and I'm searching frantically. Has anybody seen or heard about this? The AutoTap says it will read Mfg's enhanced codes, anybody got the AutoTap?

Cheers,

I've got the AutoTap, the serial data 2. x version, and I haven't gotten it to work on the 2001 yet. I've got a e-mail into them for help, but haven't gotten it solved yet.

On other vehicles, AutoTap has worked well for me. I get transmission DTCs, parameters and engine sensors and extended DTCs. They do a good job, but I'm not sure of the diesel engine support yet. Funny thing is, their "extended" data list for Chrysler shows "Water in Fuel Sensor" as one of the data parameters available. So I have to think it's capable.

As far a reading boost pressure, yup, if the engine computer reads it, you sould be able to see it with a good laptop software package. And with the AutoTap (and others I think), you can graph it, or turn it into a virtual gauge with red-lines and warning lights :)
