Software update for Uconnect , for Nav update

I downloaded a 3 hr update for the uconnect on my computer , in order to allow an update for the navigation. Transferred the files to a thumb drive. I have not tried to download it into the truck yet. I am not sure I got it right, should I just go to the dealer and pay?

If I try to open the files on my computer , I get this frame. Maybe its OK? I swear these software designers just love to make us old guys feel stupid! And the support is all videos, so I would have to write every step down in order not to miss one or get them out of order.

There isn't a point in trying to open the files on your computer as they aren't designed to run there.

I'd go plug it in to the truck, it should update itself.

And it won't do it if the file you try to load is corrupted.
But most important - the stick has to be entirely empty except for that single file from u-connect. Best is to format it before to really get rid of everything, even hidden files.

The thumb drive Nav update came in the mail. In order to allow the thumb drive to upload into the truck, you need to activate it. In order to do that you need to fill out a form on a website with several lines of numbers. Then they will send you a activation code to your email. Big time snag as the AI robots did not like my email address, that I had for almost 20yrs. So I was dead in the water . I called a help line, 1886 462 8837, and after getting through to a real person, she talked me through the update. Dictating several large codes over the phone was very easily gotten wrong, so there was several attempts. Took about an hour of idling the truck to get the update done. The help person was great , the experience really sucked.
