12 V air solenoid

Check out a Grainger catalog. I think they have an on line catalog too. I was just there today (fluid power section) selecting a $20 solenoid for my air horns (Grainger# 6JJ52, Aro). You might have to check to see if the valve will work in a vacume

Good Luck.

I went to a wrecking yard and gathered up several solenoids, both NO and NC, two fuse panels, and a couple dozen fuses of different types. They nicked me $15. 00

Didn't they have an article in the TDR back several editions on that. Don't remember the price ? Doesn't B&D sell them in BC you know here in Canada?????

4x4 lock out

i thought this out when every one was talking expensive solenoids, i went to my locale pet store and bought a manual two way air valve, less than $3. 00 that resembles a ball valve if you will. (the only one they had, no available). it actually has four ports on it. you use the two with the valves and plug the other two. just a 1/4 turn of the handles turns them on or off. you must use a pretty rigid walled tubing. surgical tubing will collapse. mounted it under the dash with the parking brake release handle.

one word of caution, watch the amount of torque you apply to the drive train, twice the torque when engaged, probably more than that.

just my penny's worth

I bought the same ARO brand solenoid valve for my air horns from Grainger that MWilleford mentioned below. The instruction manual said the pressure range was vacuum to 125psi.

As far as tubing goes, I paid $2 or $3 for 25 ft. of plastic tubing from Home Depot. It's rated for 150psi. Should work for what you need.
