I've got a 47re in my '99 3500 that has a bit of a problem. If I take off in D it starts in 2nd gear and upshifts early to 3rd, no lock up and no od. If I manually select L it will take off in 1st and upshift to 2nd when I move the lever to 2nd and on to 3rd when I move the lever to D. If I pull the lever back to 2nd it will shift down to 2nd but it will not go back to 1st if I manually select L. I have to go to N and let it sit there for a little bit before I can manually select L and actually get 1st gear. I checked gov. pressure and it pegs my 0-30 psi gauge with no wheel speed. I tried gov. pressure check with C2 unplugged from the PCM with the same results. Can someone give me a clue as to what is going on.

Sounds like it is in limp mode. Pull the codes off the computer and see what it says. If you have been messing around by the wiring connector that plugs in just behind the shift linkage on the transmission that might cause the trouble you describe. I once forgot to plug that connector in after working in that area and it did what you describe.
