"I pledge allegiance to the earth... what?

Los Angeles City Council Members

Want to Add New "Pledge of Allegiance"

To Council Meetings.

By Ralph Weller

CalNRA.org Contributing Editor

September 29, 2001 - Just when you think San Francisco is truly the capitol of weird lefty politicians, along comes another California politician in what seems to be a never-ending spiral of competition for the "stupid politician of the month" award. We have found a worthy competitor.

Los Angeles City Councilwomen Ruth Galanter and some of her friends on the council want to change, amend, add to, eliminate, co-exist with, or do something which we aren't quite certain of, to the existing Pledge of Allegiance. As a reminder, here is the pledge as published in 1892 with one change in 1954 adding "under God. "

Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to

the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with

liberty and justice for all.

Councilwomen Galanter has written her own entitled "Pledge to the Earth". But, it doesn't end there. She introduced it to the city council on September 26 so that it may become part of the official proceedings at the opening of city council meetings, we presume.

Pledge to the Earth

"I pledge allegiance to the earth on which I stand, one world, one people, undivided, with food, shelter, and justice for all. "

So what prompted this stroke of literary genius? Galanter was so struck by the September 11 World Trade Center attack that it seemed like an opportune time to write some pearls of wisdom that only a socialist would appreciate. In her motion she wrote: "the events of September 11, 2001, have dramatically demonstrated that ultimately we are all part of the same world community without national or ethnic distinction... "

Oh please! What a bunch of mush-brained, left-wing stupidity. Was she sleeping on September 11? Galanter may think that the world is without national or ethnic distinction, but the very "same world community" she thinks we all belong to is so dangerous to Americans that the U. S. State Department issued a world-wide warning to Americans traveling outside of the U. S. this very week.

As many as 7000 Americans died on September 11, 2001 because we have significant national or ethnic diversity in this world with very different value systems. The bottom line is we are not and, in all probability, will never be the same. There are many people, regimes, crackpot dictators, and governments in other lands that want to see Americans dead.

That's the difference between us and them. We don't seek the death of innocent citizens as our enemies do. Americans seek justice for the victims and their families as well as for every American including your constituents. Galanter needs to do her constituents a favor and quit equating them and America with every sleazy third world muslim country that wants to see us destroyed. We are not "one world, one people," and "undivided. "

There is more to life than "food, shelter, and justice for all. " Americans call it "liberty"... a word that she most conveniently omitted from her pledge. That shouldn't surprise anyone. Words like "liberty" are a threat to socialism which is steeped in keeping people oppressed. When people are dependent on government for their very basic survival needs of food and shelter, there is no room for such lofty notions as liberty.

Galanter needs to take her "Pledge to the Earth" and burn it. It's nonsense! If the Los Angeles City Council adopts her pledge it is clear that left-wing socialists have taken over L. A. not unlike Berkeley and San Francisco. They need to be swept out of office with the city hall trash at the next election.

Murle,

You got it right. This is the way it is here. Here we have all of the low life left over Flower Children that didn't succumb to drug overdoses.

CALIFORNIA IS A GREAT STATE!

As long as the "Fruits and Nuts" Stay in their own Respective States, Some How, Some Way "They" Find their way out here, Why I have no Idea?.

Doug.

You Cant judge a State By Its Politicians

On a Similar Note

Its Funny That Every County in California Voted for GW Bush Eccept; LA County, SanDiego County, Ventura County, And What ever County San Franisco is in.
The rest of the countys in Ca with Common Desent Hard Working Folks in them Voted for GW Bush.
The Weird Counties With Weird Ideas towards Socialism and Leftist Agendas All Voted for Al Gore.

God Bless Texas, Nuke Los Angeles and lets start over!LOL.

I am a Cal. native, what I encounter, for the most part are "transplants". Yup we got lots of losers that seem to be from elsewhere. Many CA folks were hoping the 1994 quake or the riots would send some of these losers back to where they came from... . no such luck.

We, IMO, are the result of just too many people in an area not big enough, it has gotten to the point that Southern CA is one big city. It used to be that when you went to Vegas you went for just about 200 miles of nothing... now its all developed with yuppy homes.

The weather is great but the price of it has gotten way too high, so if you come to visit please remember to go home!

FLAME AWAY... ... ... USE THE AFTERBURNERS:D

HDH, You seem to be flip-floppin... . is your tyristor allowing an AC/DC moment or perhaps just a spasm of reality... Bakersfield... I go there ONLY for MESA MARIN!

956Wheel,

Don't know what part of Cal. you live in but it must be on the coast or HIGH in the mountains. To say the weather is great, it is obvious that you never lived in southern Central Valley. I lived there for 51 years, 29 of those in Bakersfield. It is so hot in the summer that is miserable for months and so foggy in the winter that you don't see the sun for a month at a time. Took it's toll on me so I left as soon as was possible.

Being born in Bakersfield, I will 2nd what Ram Boy says. We moved to the coast and love it here. But most of my relatives love it there and would'nt live anywhere else. Go Figure. :D :D

Ramboy,

You couldn't pay me enough to live in Bakersfield, I am at the edge of the Angeles National forest.

If this weather here is so bad then why does just about everyone want to live here and if they don't want to live here its cause they allready do!

You guys got humidity right? My sister is at the northwest corner of AR and they get some real humidity. Now I know TX is big so you must have all kinds of weather possible... how 'bout where you are?

West Texas is much drier than east Texas and I am about in the middle. Humidity does get bad at times but is predominately very moderate. Being in the hills with with all the land heavily forested, the winters are fairly mild (except when a norther' comes through) and summers are also. We get, on average, about 35" of rain annually. We are just far enough west that we don't have concerns with ticks and fleas. It is really very nice here and centrally located for traveling.

I love this State, Califoria Is Truely a Wonderful Piece of Realestate. IMO California has the Most Diverse Landscape of any other State in the Nation, Has the Tallest Mountain in the Lower 48 states. And Death Valley and the Mohave Desert in the Spring Time is absolutly Wonderful.

BUT!. With all the Commies and Socialist in Control of the State Government, And All of the Greeny Weenies running Saving this, saving that, Locking up Public Land, What Good is the Realestate if you (The Public) Can't enjoy it?

IOW's. I love the Land and all its Wonder. But I HATE the Green Weenie Meanies And their Commie Fascist Atitude towards off road sports, And I HATE their Atitude Towards My Money and How I should Give it to the Pukes of the State.

So If thats Flip Flopp'n, Then I am Guilty.

I am Still looking for A Nice place in Utah,Montana,Idaho,Wyoming,Nevada,Arizona. Just getting all my ducks in row before the move. I have the CTD almost paid for,4k left.
The Jeep Cherokee is paid for.
I have 2k left on the Polaris Sportsman.
The Sport Ute Toy Haul'n Travel Trailer is a Tax right off.
The Wifes Ram 1500 4x4 balance is down low.
By this time Next year, We will have Eveything Paid for. Then we can Sell the House and move to a more freedom friendly state. And Dig up my two AR15's and Mak 90 that are Buried in the Mohave desert on my way out of the Commie State.

No Flaming Needed.
