Am I Reading This Right?

... anything with 6" and bigger straight sound awesome, especially when the person is good with the throttle and winds her out to 2000 rpm, pulls it out of gear for the upshift, insert big turbo whoosh here, then blips the throttle to match everything up and slides er in the next hole, then hammer down.

Speaking of truck porn... is it hot in here or is it just me? :-laf

That's a sweet looking Petercar!

Is shifting that beast when she's unloaded gonna get interesting once you have the extra 500 ft/lbs? Who cares... Having over 2000 ft/lbs. has gotta be worth making certain "sacrifices"

I don't think drivability will change with the extra power, the throttle is so smooth that it would be easy to control, I think if there would be any problem it would be burnin the tires off, especially when empty, I can spin the tires now in the lower gears fully loaded but that's only if I am in a real hurry or po'ed and I am mashing it LOL. The other thing that will help with that pittsburgh power box is that it is adjustable just like the tst box from inside the cab, so you could keep it at maybe setting 2 for in town and local and turn it up once ur on the big road and in the big hole.

As requested I finally got time to take a pic with the chicken lights on, I also took some pics of the inside looking out.

I guess for anyone interested and for any gauge freaks, I will see if I can remember them all off the top of my head.

Clock (not really a gauge but it's nice to have LOL)
Oil Temp
Oil Pressure
Tach
Speedo
Water Temp
Dual Air Pressure
Fuel (switchable to read each tank seperate)
Voltmeter
Applied Brake Air Pressure
Fuel Pressure (80psi idle, 100psi full throttle, no lift pump or vp44 worries... . LOL)
Turbo Boost
Pyro
transmission Temp
Front Rear Temp
Rear Rear Temp
Suspension Air Pressure
Turbo Timer
Amperage Draw
Air Filter Vacuum
Fuel Filter Vacuum

The only gauge I'm missing is an outside temp gauge which I will prolly add once we get moved, the only other thing I would like to add is a CAT ID display but I have no idea where I would put it.

Well yesterday turned out to be a bad day, I was supposed to settle on our house at 1pm, and have walk through at 11am, so I did 1 load yesterday morning to try to help out, well on my way back with a load of empty racks from Chrysler down in newark, de. I was in the hammer lane traffic was going about 50 in a 55, I had a pretty good cushion from the car in front of me. I seen this a-hole come hauling butt in the right lane and I knew what he was going to try to do, so I sped up to close the gap on the car in front of me, the car in front of me was an explorer and I was close enough to him that I couldn't even see his third brake light. I knew there was no way this guy coming up on my right could cut me off... ... ... ... at least not without hitting me and of course thats what the idiot did. He cut into me so hard that his rear door hit my front tire and bumper and spun him sideways directly in front of my like a t, took him down the road about an 1/8th mile like that, his front bumper was up against the jersey wall, near the end of the slide my truck started coming away from the jersey wall and from his car's front bumper against the wall it pulled him around to my drivers side, the guy is lucky to be alive and much less not hurt. As soon as we got to the shoulder I ran back to make sure he was alright, the first words out of his mouth were f-in a-hole, it took everything I had not to send the guy to the hospital, but I just calmly told him that it is illegal to pass on the right and that it is also unsafe especially when there is no room and walked away. His car was towed away, I pulled my fender up away from the tire so I could get back to the yard and now I am in a rental till the police report comes back and the insurance pays their dues. Good thing is I had a witness and he told the cop that the guy cut him off making him slam on his brakes and he seen the guy come hauling butt up the right lane and try to cut me off. I have a couple pics for ya, the pics of his car suck because I had to take them with my phone but I took the pics of the truck with the digicam.

Here are the pics, sorry there is so many:

Whats really bad is there is not a single scratch on the rear or passengers side of his car, I wish his airbags would have deployed and gave him a bloddy nose and a black eye... . LOL

I'm going to need, two fenders, two inner fenders, 4 jj blinker bars(all are broken or bent), new bumper, new lights, wiring, alignment, he dented the sleeper on the drivers side and scrathed the paint, bent the light bar under the sleeper, scratched and dented drivers side steps, and scratched and dented the drivers side fuel tank, I am guessing mine is going to be somewhere around $8 - 10k to fix, his car is jacked too, the phone camera doesn't really take good pics but it was all I had at the scene.

Your truck looks sweet with those lights. Sorry about the accident, that sucks. I almost cried when I saw the pictures. He's lucky to be alive, some people do not realize the difference in weight between a car and truck. Nice job on being polight to him too after he swore at you, even though it was his fault, that takes class, I would've been very mad, I probably would've killed him. ;)

I was excited to see the night photo and scrolled down to see this!!! that stinks man!!! youve got one awesome rig!! Id make the jerk polish the truck with a 3"x3" cloth :-laf or have him pay for a complete detail job!!

Ive got a quick question for you (and other truckers) Ive traveled at night down the highway a few times and upon passing a rig the truckers will turn off there headlights for a second when im jus about to get back in the slow lane. I know truckers do this to eachother to let em know its ok to get back over but all the times ive not been hauling anything (no trailer or crud in the bed) Im not passing them at a high speed or anything to antagonize them. (they blink the lights even if I dont get back in the slow lane)

Thanks

Ian

ps the night shot is my new background THANKS!!! Oo.

Sorry to hear about the Trouble. Some people should get their lic. taken away for crap like that! I'm a pretty calm person, but stuff like that is down right stupid. I think after initial impact... . I would have HELPED do more damage to his car! Maybe a little "help" to the side of the road... ...

Light flashing..... It's mainly curteousy(sp?... LOL), and alot of it can be habit. The only 4 wheelers or 6 wheelers I flash is dodge cummins, some others if they are towing a camper or what not, that is unless they do something stupid or did do something stupid a couple of miles ago..... LOL

I had a very hard time walking away from him, I was shocked the guy even tried the lane change, especially when he only had half his car passed me when he whipped it over, and for him to end up sideways on my bumper like he did he had to of whipped it over pretty hard. I am hoping to get passed the accident scene soon, I want to look for skid marks, both his and mine and take pics just in case it goes to court, and with his comments I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Between the proof in the damage and the witness I know it will be a sure win for me, just the problem with society is it is always the big trucks fault, and I do realize there are really bad truck drivers out there.

The main reason I wanna get pics of the scene is because I don't remember hitting the brakes, whats weird is I know I did just because of instinct but I don't remember standing on em. Plus I wanna see how far I pushed him down the highway. After he made his comment I reminded him that it is illegal and unsafe to pass on the right and cut someone off let alone road rage, then i walked away. I would like to know what the frickin idiot was thinking when he did it. I should have asked him if he needed a clean pair of panties... . LOL At least he got to see a whole lot of pete grill in his face. :D What would have been really nice is if the air bags would have went off and smashed his face in.

Nutndun,

Very AWESOME looking ride you have! Thanks for posting the great pics!! Hope you don't have to go through too much crap from the accident. It seems like anytime there is an accident involving an 18 wheeler, the media always portrays the 18 wheeler as being the "bad guy;" i. e. truckers speed, sleep behind the wheel, blah blah blah. It kind of seems like the trucker has a double whammy and has to defend himself more to prove he's innocent.

Question... do you think from your driving experience that CTD drivers are better than other 4 wheelers? Hope there aren't any CTD drivers that drive as bad as soccer moms in minivans  :-laf :-laf

Have a safe trip!

Ian

The truck is only going to one body shop, i know the guy and he does awesome work, and while he has it in I am going to have him strip the rear frame and sandblast and repaint it, then he bakes it on, alot better job then peterbilt does from the factory... LOL Once I get it back and now that the weather is getting warmer the high speed buffer is coming out.

I've only been driving truck for 8 years, but out of that time I have only had one or two CTD's do something stupid. The one was just recent and he was in a hurry passing people on the right and tailgating, I was just cruising in the right lane watching him, good thing is I didn't see any tdr stickers on his rig. I could probably almost sum them all up in categories.

You have the old people(no offense LOL) that drive too slow, will pull out in front of you and not get going fast enough, some swerve, brake for no reason.

The middle age ones, they vary, alot of them are good drivers, until it comes time to get to work or go home from work then some get to drive like idiots.

The middle age ones that are most aggressive are the ones in business suits, women included, with their expensive cars, and they are usually on the cell phone.

Teens and twenties, they actually drive pretty good, at least until they have friends in the car, then my nice statement there goes out the window... . LOL The ones that think they are fast and furious, they are bout the worst, but they usually take care of themselves because you always read about them in the paper getting killed on some back road around here.

Here are my biggest pet peeves:

I try to run with the cruise as much as possible, I hate it when I come up on a slow car and as soon as I change lanes to pass, they speed up. Then it makes me feel like I am being a jackass tieing up traffic, I normally end up testing them to see how fast they will go till they give up... . LOL. I actually had one go to about 85+ till she gave up.

Another one I hate is when cruising down the highway coming up on a merge ramp, if I see someone coming up the ramp I try to grab the left lane to give them room(always for trucks, most of the time for cars) the part that gets me is then they merge and just sit there at the back of the trailer not letting me back in, for these I give em about a mile to back off so I have room to change lanes, if not then I throw the turn signal on and start working my way over, usually works pretty good when the wagon starts going over the dotted line, for some reason they magically see the turn signal then and actually will flash their lights to let me know I can get over then..... LOL

I think the majority of americans think like this, oh god there's a big truck, gotta get in front of it.
