Some really bad news concerning a TDR member

I received some really bad news yesterday concerning a fellow TDR member. Glenn Recknagel(blackcloud), died at his home following surgery/treatment of a brain tumor. I don't have all the details yet, but I was told that he had suffered a blood clot that resulted in his death. Glenn was a good friend that I met due to the TDR. I think the friendships made here are the best part of the $35 dues. It's really scary how fast something like this can happen. I had been shooting with him a few weeks ago, and he seemed fine. I guess he got a bad headache, and went to the doctor. They did a CAT scan and operated the next day and were very positive with the outcome after removing the tumor. Another TDR member and friend (LSMITH), called me last night and gave me the bad news. I'm going to really miss him, and am praying for his family. If any local members are interested in going to his funeral or wake, I'll post when/where the services will be held. I should know more by tomorrow night.

I met Glenn a couple of years ago and although I didnt know him very well, I know he was a great guy just by the conversations we've had since we first met. I just dont know what to say. This really bums me out. He was really a great guy. I will really miss him.

I met Glenn at the Goerend's dyno event in 2001 after emailing each other back and forth. We hit it off right away. We get to meet a lot of great people through the TDR. But some of them are more than truck friends - they're just friends, period. Glenn was one of those for me. We had more in common and enjoyed talking more about life in general than we did about trucks. We just exchanged emails a few weeks ago about getting together soon - the next time I get down to his part of the state. Now it turns out that I'll be going down there tomorrow to say goodbye to him. I'm really bummed out. I miss Glenn already. He was a genuine friend and a great, lovable guy. Our TDR events won't be the same for me.

Wow, I hate news like that. Glenn was sort of a perfect addition to the WI TDR misfits.



I kid you guys a lot, but you're really a great bunch. Sad news to hear another good TDR brother gone.

I didn't get to know Glenn real well but I liked him and enjoyed what he brought to the local gatherings, a good sence of humor,helpfulness and all around good nature. He will be missed.

That's sad to hear. Never met him in person, but we did pm back and forth a few times. Maybe he'll meet up with HVAC.

Sorry to hear about him. I went through a similar incident this past spring with my wife. Luckily she survived but it was nooo fun.

Ya know, Glenn was a shining example of what makes the TDR brotherhood so great. I will always remember him fondly. In fact him and I talked a Goerand's a couple years back when he was having fits trying to remove his fan. Just a great all around guy to be around, and someone I am proud to have met.

"Wierd Beard" will be the way I will always remember him. Godspeed Glenn. We'll meet again someday.

Last night I, along with Fireman Dave and LSMITH, went to the wake. They did a nice job with a bunch of photo's taken of Glenn over the years. Lot's of pictures of him and his various trucks, along with a good photo of everyone's trucks lined up during the first dyno meet at Goerand's. They also had his Harley in the funeral home, which was a nice touch. I got to meet his mother and sister, and my heart goes out to them. Today, I rode with Howard(LSMITH) to the funeral. They had Glenn's '97 detailed and drove it near the front of the procession to the cemetary. After I got home, the reality of it all has started to sink in, and I'm sitting here now really bummed-out . I'm glad I got the chance to meet Glenn and enjoyed our friendship.

Glenn was a good friend and will be missed dearly. He and I spent quite a bit of time together over the last couple years, and I got to know him pretty well. He was one of those guys who ALWAYS did the right thing no matter what, one hell of a good man. I've not known many men with his integrity and compassion, you couldn't ask for a better friend. Glenn is fine now, the way he lived his life I'm sure that is the case. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I'm trying to put a face to the name. Did Glenn have a goerend transmission installed the secound year we got together down there? I think he had a dually?

I trying to remember who it was that I chatted with for about an hour when I arrived at Goerends. Kinda thinking it was Glenn?

Sucks losing friends.

That probably was him Jeff. He had the red '96 dually. I don't know if he still had the box on it then, or if he put the flatbed on it. JohnE put the governor spring kit in it while he was there and Goerend did the transmission before the dyno weekend.

... HEAVY SIGH ...

Glenn was the first person that talked to when I pulled in to Goerend's in May 2002. He was grousing at me cuz I got pretty close to another bumper when I pulled into a parking slot.



Later that day I got to a know a warm & genuine person while we cracked smiles at everyone across street as we worked under the hood of his 96.



I haven't seen him since that evening at the campground when we shared a few beers as only friends will do. We emailed a few times a year to keep in touch.



I called him friend.
