Let me ask the deciding questions I need help with. 6-SPD AUTO 68RFE - DG7 with 3. 73 or 4. 10 Vs. 6-SPD AUTO HD - DF2 3. 73 or 4. 10. I do not go above a GCWR of 25K. Is the Aisin worth the extra $2,400 or so being that I am going down the Highway 85% of the time empty? Your thought from this question would be appreciated.

Does the extra HP and Torque of the '13 make the 3. 73 ratio a suitable choice in my case for either transmission above. Seems like the posts really lean towards the 4. 10's because of the "double overdrive". Mpg is important to me, being I average 80 miles one way to the job site.

Thanks for the input and patience.

As you know, it is hard to build the perfect truck. When I was logging I used a list in my head of three things for the day. Things I have to do, things I should do and things I can let go. So... Things I must have/need, things I would like to have and things I can do without.

Fuel milage is a factor of speed more than RPM unless the truck is geared to scream at highway speed. I really doubt there will be much milage gain with 3. 73 v/s 4. 10, they will both cruise fine, empty.

The $2400 Aisin option will include more than just the transmission. More power, bigger ring gear, pto and ect. However, keep in mind the 68rfe was/is the transmission of choice for the 2011-2012 max tow, (350/800) a very heavy duty capable truck.
