Build your own exhaust

This turbo was on my firetruck at work. Just returning from a call when it went. Mechanic said he never seen one blow up like this before. Tis picture shows how the compressor housing broke off when the shaft failed.
 
These last 2 Pics show the compressor wheel split in 2, and the exhaust wheel that we found stuck downstream in the exhaust brake :eek: Its a Detroit/International Abortion motor if anyones curious. The intercooler had some chunks in there also.
 
Purely speculation, but I think it may have to do with the fact these are ridden HARD daily, and there is no such thing as turbo cool down when we get back to the station. The 2 brass bushings we found that the shaft rides on were pretty tight to the shaft, not too much play, But who knows what there like when its spinnin 110K R's
