Gus----the guy that owns the truck now just laughed as he showed me the carnage (a 1 foot chunk of block and concrete-with a piece of head and studs still conected) and said----A guy doesnt drive 12 hours to run his truck easy. He ran almost 200 lbs of boost on fri. night and it was at 165 lbs when the block let loose.

thats just nuts

Somebody told me we need to do tractors, not by comparing the crowd I saw on both nights!!! Oo.

I've been to a few pulls and pulled in fewer, But I know that I and most everyone else waits through the tractors to see the trucks. (Diesel)

Ever wonder why they put the Diesel trucks last at every pull?

What are the results from SDX? I have been watching www.dhraonline.com on the Sled Pulling Standings and Results page. Tuesday evening and still no updates. Bad enough I could not go. Great watching the videos but can not tell anything about distances on them.

We were at probably about the 320-330' mark with the Campbell County KY Pull'n Team when Famous Amos missed N :eek: :--) Not pretty! :{

Nope, not pretty at ALL, sucks!

Here is what I picked up with SUPER ZOOM:

Not good at all, his luck was almost as bad as mine. . except its other people that tend to smash up my truck box.

That was quite the mean track, lots of broken trucks:

I didn't get to hook saturday so there is not a picture of my truck sitting at the end broke

Well the new convertor is in. We will see how it performs. I am definately not worried about spooling it now. I had it to 20psi in 4Low on the trailer at about 2250 rpm, and I know I could get it to 2500 if I needed too.

One thing I think the truck pulls will miss is the time I allow the announcers to get in all of the announcments uninterupted. Also check on the track officials, I see them kneeling, crossing a leg, motioning me to go with the flag, etc, etc. It does make for some entertainment. :-laf

Carnage wasn't too serious. I twised up the rear driveshaft in the SD pulloff and finished 3rd. I put in the spare and finished 3rd in the Quick Diesel class in the 1/8 mile on Sunday. I redlit -. 001 in the semi final round and ran a 7. 7

That was an awesome hook Mike!

You are definately ahead of me in points again now, but you haven't made it to every hook I've been to.

Out of the half dozen or so GMs that twisted driveshafts, how many will replace with the same part, and not upgrade?

STEEL, would be helpful.

Tomac?

I do remember a car gasser drag racer insisting I HAD to put aluminum driveshafts in my truck to reduce rotating mass. :-laf

Right.

The tube section of the driveshaft is 64" long. It would be too darn heavy if it was steel. If this was a dedicated pulling truck I'd have one made up out of steel but I dragrace and drive this truck on the street too.

you could go to a two piece and put a carrier bearing in it. I am running a one piece on mine, I have a long bed extended cab and don't have any issues at highway speeds. There is acutally a guy with 4. 10 runnning a one piece and he reports no issues up to 110 mph.

My rear shaft for my truck (crew-cab, long box) is a 1 piece unit that Haisleys built for me. The rear shaft is 84" long and 4" heavy wall steel with 1480's and I don't get any vibes but so far I have only got it up to about 85mph... taking it to the strip next weekend hopefully so I will see if there is any above 85.

I've got a 1 piece 71" shaft that is 4. 095 x . 180 wall.

It does not vibrate up to over 110MPH.

(closed course, professional driver, of course)
