I guess this guy hasn't squeezed all the lemon juice yet as I just saw this thing heading south on Mcclintock from baseline. Maybe it is to fast for him as he left everyone else at the red light.

Toyota Quality

C'mon folks

All of you people on this web-site who are bagging on Toyota

Q. C are F. O. S. Just more of the Dodge pisses on Chevy & Ford

B. S. Maybe... just maybe it's quantity vs quality that your all

geeked up about. You can't ask a 1/2 ton truck to do the work

of a 3/4- 1ton. The 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel I bought used with

22,000 miles has been in for warranty work twice in the two months that I've owned it. That's two more times than the

2 Toyota trucks that I owned before it, totaling 18 years and

650,000 miles. Oo. You cannot ask a 1/2 tone truck to do the work of a 3/4 -1 ton. This web site (as great as it is) is proof

positive that the day that Toyota or Nissan come out with a 3/4

-1 Ton pick-up is the day I start planning to buy one.

The new Nissan Titan is a case in point. Almost 3/4 ton. But...

check out the standard features!!!!! Be afraid Detroit. err... Mexico

BE VERY AFRAID. :-{}

For 14 years I worked in a Datsun/Nissan service dept. And for years I would have agreed with you 100%. But times have changed and the quality and design of MOST/Not all domistics have changed FOR the better. As well as the quality and design of MOST imports have stayed the same or actually gone down some. Nissan is a good vechical but not what it was. I now hear compliants of timing chain failures and oil consumption issues. Have had friends with Toyota Highlanders and trucks who were for from happy. Oil usage, poor service and on Toyota full size comments that fuel mileage sucks and they don't tow any where as well as advertized. Time will tell. Also the cost of major repair on Jap made is outa site. Even some common stuff such as 02 sensors etc is twice or more what a domestic part cost. A Mazda Miata window regulator(manual glass)were over $300 at one time. Idle up solonoid on a 626 $600. Miss a oil change on a Toyota v6 and cams seize in the heads etc. The point is both have good and bad points.

Someone was in a hurry

I tend to shy away from first year offerings. Dodge offered me a 50 dollar test drive to get me to trade up to an 03. On this particular truck, the hood would not close! Made me wonder if Dodge was rushing things a little or putting too much pressure on the production line.

I know this is just one thing and is not a flame on those who bought new trucks. DC changed a lot of stuff on these trucks and growing pains are to be expected. I just wonder if there is a hidden ''lift pump'' or ''KDP'' out there somewhere. I am confident that if DC does'nt fix all the problems, the guys at TDR will.

Always the optimist-- just trying to add a little sunshine to your day

While I'm on a roll! On imports I found auto transmissions went south a lot also. I hear the prices of auto upgrades on this forum and prices. Well lots of import auto cost $2500 to $3500 to repair. I mean regular little automobiles. Lots of working gals in their imports lay down $3000 on charge cards for autos in Toyo's,Nissan,Honda's,Isuzu,Mazda etc. Some of these imports are so technical that some don't even advise a REPAIR but factory replacements! At times it was hard to tell folks on the Jap econo box that a trans repair was THAT kind of money.

I tend to agree that the quality of imports and domestics are coming together. Since the end of the 70's all I bought were imports. Mostly German and later Nissan/Toyota. I think the Toyota's hit their high water mark from 95-97, then they became the GM of the east in terms of quality. JMHO based on experience.
