... I think.

It's a 92 LE cc 5 speed 4x4, 165Kmi. 19. 6 MPG, first tank. Guy I bought it from didn't seem to know much about it. I don't think he had it long, even though he led me to believe he had.

Sleuthing my turbo exhaust housing; In a box full of parts I got with my truck, was a turbo exhaust housing, in a box. The box has 16cm written in black sharpie on the label. The housing in the box clearly has 18. 5 cast into it. The housing on my truck, aside from Holset, has 3521934, 18 D1, and 16 27 12 cast into it. None of these numbers match the part number on the label on the housing box. How do I know what housing it is?

Fuel mods? The fuel pump looks relatively new. It still has yellow paint on the adjustment screws... tattle tales? How can I tell if it's been adjusted?

My wait to start light always comes on, even when it's warm... ?

Other than that, it has a K&N filter (soon to go, I think), and LOTS of extra leaves in the springs, which really need to go. It needs the front driveline rebuilt, and I need some door hinges (mysteryman?), it seems, and it has some rust to repair. I guess I need to check the KDP, unless someone from Alaska knows the truck and can confirm for me (It could happen... ) It has a slight "wobble" at 45-50 mph, feels like right front tire. It does need decent wheels badly. I'd also like to do the 2nd gen seat swap.

Thanks for all the help so far...

John

PS. I'll try to get photos into readers rigs album while at work tomorrow. Dialup too slow. Had to sign up for DSL just to access all the stuff on TDR (jut kidding).

Edit; Ok, the pics are up. Here's the fuel pump...

Yup yer pum phas been redone- those yellow marks are tamper evident marks- the shop giving the warranty can tell if you have messed with anything. 19. 6MPG aint bad- right in the middle of the pack.

welcome to the TDR. Sounds like you got a typical 1st Gen truck- still drivable, but needs some work to get up to good.

The wait to start will come on as a bulb check for a couple seconds no matter what the temperature is. You will hear the intake grid relays click on and the volt meter drop if the truck is really preheating. Plus the light will stay on longer than normal.

So, any more input on my turbo housing? The housing on my truck, aside from Holset, has 3521934, 18 D1, and 16 27 12 cast into it. None of these numbers match the part number on the label on the housing box that came with the truck that has a housing inside clearly numbered 18. 5. Anyone know what housing this is on the truck??

That pump looks like the one on my bro-in-laws 92 W250. . The orig owner took it in early for some "recall" thing. . A KW shop did the work. . It wasn't set up like a stock one in the diaphram housing . the spring was set all the way soft and the pin was set half way full. . Smoked pretty bad(good?)around town. That's exactly how it came back from the recall shop. we cleaned it up by tightening the spring and adding a bit of full fuel which was turned way down. Now it runs cleaner and faster. more linear. We also put a 16cm housing on it and advanced the timing a bit. . He loves it. . night and day difference really. It gets over 21mpg. . Enjoy your new(used) truck. . I'm searching the earth for a clean 5 speed first gen... they are great trucks.....

John, if the housing on the truck looks identical to the one in the box, most likely its a 16cm housing. The 16 number should be sorta by itself. If it's a 12cm housing, then it would be longer than the housing in the box. Doesn't look like the shop put paint on the afc cover screws. You could turn the afc cone to a deeper setting or swap in a custom ground cone.
