Someone cut the plug off

This might be easier. I found this how-to in e-trailer.com. It explains installing a brake control into an 05 Ram either with factory prep or without it. The instructions for the non-factory prep truck are down the page aways.
So it shows the factory plug and colors, none are purple or violet. This should get you going either way.
