put a fuel pressure gauge on a freinds '03 ...

he's got a tst box ... ps 62-14 ... afe intake

at an idle he sees 6 p. s. i. post filter

with any throttle at all with tst on 3x3 and up his pressure drops to 1 psi ...

we figure it's time for a fass but just wondering what the stock pressure should be at idle and does a tst on low settings drain the stock lift pump almost instantly under normal circumstances?

thanks

I usually see about 8/9 psi when driving normally, it'll go up to about 10 psi when I've pushed it a bit, then relax the throttle, and I've seen it drop to 7 psi when I'm really pushing it uphill, for example. I've never seen it lower than that during normal operation.

I would see 5-6psi while cruising down the road. Idle at around 7psi. With the smarty or tst it would drop to zero. Run it there for a few seconds and the engine would starve for fuel. Lost the lift pump awhile back and ran it without one for a few hundred miles on stock levels with no issues at all. Now I am running the Walbro and never see pressures lower then 13 psi with Smarty and TST.

when you lost the lift pump did you run it pulling through a dead lift pump or just eliminate/bypass it?
, MY 03 USED TO RUN 11-14 PSI AT THE INLET OF THE CP-3 WITH THE STOCK LIFT PUMP, BEFORE IT WENT OUT, IT DROPPED TO 7, I ADDED A CHEAP CARTER TO THE FRAME AND USED IT TO PUSH INTO THE STOCKER AND IT WENT UP TO 28 PSI, IT RAN FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS LIKE THAT, DAILY DRIVING/TOWING AND EXTREME OFF ROAD ABUSE, WHEN THE STOCKER COMPLETELY FAILED I JUST BYPASSED IT WITH A 200 GPH FASS AT 50PSI, SOMEONE SELLS A FITTING TO INSTALL TO YOUR STOCK FILTER HOUSING SO YOU CAN REMOVE THE STOCKER AND USE A DIFFERENT LIFT PUMP TO PUSH THROUGH YOUR STOCK FILTER HOUSING, HOPE THIS HELPS OR SAVES YOU SOME MONEY... :)

When I had the stocker mounted on the filter housing, I ran about 7# at idle and 6# cruising. With my TST/EZ I could pull it down to 0 pretty easy on the lower settings. It never hiccuped, but I didn't have my rail pressure gauge then to tell what was going on either.

Glacier Diesel Power sells the fitting. You can also get one from the dealer thru warranty if you are under mileage.

I pulled thru it for a few hours. I noticed the pressure went to zero on the gauge but thought it was a faulty gauge. I had the bypass kit from the dealer so I was able to install the filter bypass kit and still make it out to Glamis that night.
