I too have 30k on my truck

1) I have the leater seats and have no issues. I'm 6-2 / 275 and haven't felt and metal bars in the seats. In fact, they're the most comfortable seats I've ever had. I can drive 6+ hours and have no pain in my legs or back.

2) The only rattle I had in my doors was the squeak with window switches, I haven't noticed it lately, so maybe it squeaked itself quiet.

3) I too notice the slow windows, but if you timed it - it's probaly a fraction of a second. To me this is a non-issued. Name me a scenario when you need your window rolled down any faster.

4) I tested every truck in the 3/4 ton market: Chevy, Ford and Dodge. I knew I was getting a 4dr, so I checked the back for space. I was fully aware of the space limitations with the Dodge and how it compared to the others. If your biggest concern is interior room in the rear, you needed to weigh that against all the pros that Dodge has for you. To me, the rear seat was a non necessity, just a nice plus.

5) No experience with this issue

6) It was sort of a pain in the arse, but nothing overbearing.

7) Yes, I think that would be crazy, but if Cummins is going to supply engines for Ford, maybe DC wants to offer something different and use a sister company.

------------------------

My bigger issue is cross wind noise in the cab, and also how much the doors move in the wind. My doors pry open nearly as much as my Jeep Wrangler with the soft top on. This is totally unacceptable to me.

If your headlights are dim throw a set of PIAA extreme white bulbs in there. I put a set in the fog lamps as well. Plenty bright. I have made it a practice to put aftermarket bulbs in my Dodges ever since I have owned them. Stock Dodge headlights are pitiful IMHO.

Didn't think I had any squeaks but now, after reading this thread and driving around today, I noticed that the TC shifter is squeaking or rubbing on something. Just wedged a rag in there and now it is quiet.

If the door panels are squeaking pull them to make sure that all the clips that hold it on are in their slots---take you about 5 minutels(depending on how fast you are with the screwdriver for the 2 screws). Have you ever had to pull the panels??

JARichard,

I think you only have two real items. The rest are either to minor or not a common Dodge problem IMO.

1) The seats. Ah, the seat discussion again! ;) I will admit that there must be something to the complaining about the seats, since it is a common one. My '03 SLT with Premium Cloth has the most comfortable seats of any truck I've had to date, including a '96 PSD and a '01 Dodge. Drove 14 hours straight and was comfortable. I'm 5'11" and 185 lbs. Obviously an issue for some, but not for me.

2) Rear seat room: Obviously Ford and GM CC's have more room. I fall into the "it has enough room for my needs and I don't want a longer truck" crowd. Just bought the '04 QC for my guys and the general concensus is that the QC is good for up to four full sized adults. 5 or 6 on a regular basis, the Ford and GM CC's are a necessity.

There are some things I hope DC addresses in the future, but they did a pretty good job of addressing my complaints with my 2nd gen truck.

So for the record, I hereby wish;

- for brighter headlights

- for better quality control at AAM or a return to Dana

- more tire choices

- a dually aluminum wheel option

- a thicker coat of paint (or more chip resistant finish)

... ... . just in case they really are listening!

Dave

I have yet to find any rattles in my old 2000 or my new one, granted I get a bit more air noise with the new one.

I think both trucks have there advantages, but I like my Dodge.

7. Rumor is you are going to away with Cummins and use Benz diesel. ARE YOU CRAZY.

the first word says it all,"RUMOR". I know for fact that dodge signed another 10 year contract with cummins to provide the engine that we want. if ford buys this engine the trans in their trucks will be the 48re per contract. do you think they are going to do that?I don't. the buyers want the cummins and dodge knows it.

The original post was so immature I couldn't tell. We need constructive criticism on this board not a "Stop your B*tchen" attitude. I am sure the guys at dieselstop would appreciate you more.

Sorry to step on your thread JARichards.

Why is it immature. . He can fix half of the things himself if he wants it changed so bad, anyone who actually knows what there talking about knows mercedes diesels wont be in dodge pickups for a long time, Hopefully people understand that with our trucks being completely redisigned in 2003. . Dodge isnt going to change it for a while there wont be any re-doing anything to these trucks for a long time, maybe 2007 but i honestly doubt it. . If youd like to believe DC is sitting here watching your post go ahead, One reason i believe they arent is because after all these years of us dodge guys b*tchin about the crappy autos in our trucks why havent they fixed it  just somethin to think about. .

You sure you can handle shifting 13 speed transmission, because it seems to me that you have trouble handling your 48re auto.

Only 500 hp and 1000 ftlbs trq, no way I need more like 600 hp and 1300 ft lbe trq. Be a real man and take a 15 or 18 speed transmission.

As far as the original post goes I would not have a problem with owning a Ford as long as it had the CUMMINS in it. I do agree the Fords do have nicer interior and better seats, and a lot more leg room. Dodge got the out side looks but they do need some help on the interior department.

Think about this

Hey folks,

I think the "big three" have ALWAYS been slow to listen to their buyers. Just look @ the market share of Toyota and what's happening to our U. S. auto industry. Each U. S. vehicle produced has over 8500. dollars built into the cost for retirement, medical/legal, etc.

If Toyota ever puts a Cummins in a full sized truck your problems are over.

The US manfacturers have always tried to control, by holding the importers to less hp/torque, to offset superior quality. Want four auto up/down elec windows, as an example? Don't buy the truck unlesss it has that feature. This sounds like hardball--- it is --- the only situation is that right now the " big three" are telling us what we can have---- Importers give us almost everything AND service it to the hilt. Your money counts toward total units sold.

Don't buy the product if you aren't happy. :--)
