Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Someone stole My starter

Someone stole the starter off my truck while parked in a hotel parking lot. I got a new starter and tried to put it on but realized there has to be a spacer between the starter and the bell housing. I have an 02 HO 3500. Does anyone know where I can get the spacer. Its bad enough they took the starter but they took the spacer and the bolts. How low can you get. :{

Thats unbelieveable. If my truck didnt start that would probably be the last place I would look. then once I saw it Id have to look again to believe it!!! #@$%!

What hotel and where? I travel a bunch and want to stay clear of this one. Speaking of hotel theft, our truck was parked at the Resorts Hotel outside of Chicago. Thiefs broke in and stole two guys bags of safety gear! Welcome to Chicago

I had something like that happen to me at a hotel in Barstow, Ca. Someone cut the rubber filler hose to the tank, and siphon the fuel out... Locking Fuel Caps just cost me more money in replacement parts, than just to let them take it out of the filler hole in the first place. . :{ Amazing times we live in. Wow, I just sounded just like my Dad!

A new Low

This is pathetic. The saddest part is it could have been a fellow Cummins owner who slipped to a new low. Or it could have been some meth head who wants to sell it for a fix.

Motel parking lots are becoming a very dangerous place to leave our trucks. There is a thread on the 3rd gen site about a guy who had his truck stolen in a motel parking lot.

I realize my rant does nothing to help your situation but stories like this really **** me off. Hope you get going soon.

They just unbolted it. They didn't take anything but the starter spacer and the bolts. They must have had a very specific shopping list

Sucks man ... . Maybe you should do what they did and just look around for another CTD ,,, after a while there would be a CTD somewhere in a Dealer Lot with no starter

thats b. s... . i would contact a parts store in the area napa is usually good about having that stuff if ther is one close. i'm assuming a dealer isn't open if its sunday good luck

DM, thats not good advice friend! That may be a TDR members truck or maybe my uncle or best friend he would steal it from. I recommend just getting the new one and asking the motel to pay for the replacement. Im sure they have insurance to cover this type of theft and IMHO I think they should be watching their customer vehicles at night while you sleep. When I check into a motel I always ask that they keep an occasional eye on my truck. I always ask for a room and parking space near the entrance also. I told a motel owner once when he asked why I wanted a window overwatching my truck that I could just shoot the first SOB that tried messing with it while I stayed there.
