Someone with Recon & 35's, need favor...

I want to see IF I decided to do this if my truck would still fit in the garage. Could someone with this setup measure the height? Let's use the top of the radio antenna for a reference point.



So, could someone with Kore Recon and 35's measure ground to top of their radio antenna for me? Thanks!

I'm waiting for my Chase kit, and I may have to settle for some 305/65/17 tires (a new size from BFG and Pro Comp that is E-rated). They are a just under 33".

I've got a Recon kit coming and faced a "garage challenge" My garage door opening is 82 inches and my truck is 78 1/2 inches. I've got 3 1/2 inches max to work with but am figuring my Buckstop bumper will squat the front down a bit (1/4" ?). I've resigned myself to staying with stock tires, i. e. 256/70R17.



On the bright side, staying with stock tire size means I won't have to buy a high price spare or scrounge around for a used tire the correct diameter. The spare on the truck hasn't been on the ground and I'll save a couple of the BFG Rugged Trials for spares. The choice of tires in the stock size is pretty good as I would like to stay with load range "E".



The Rugged Trials have 36,000 miles on them and are wearing great. I've still got 7-8/32" and they have even wear across the tread. They weren't very good for traction (actually pretty crappy now that I think about it) when new and are much worse now. I'm consoling mysef with the fact that I'll have a suspension that will, hopefully, keep me from vibrating off our washboard, gravel roads and I will eventually buy some tires with much better traction. I'd like to go to 285's but I think that will make things too tight and there's not much selection of "E" rated tires this size.

The stock BFG Rugged Trail is listed @ 31. 4" and the BFG All Terrain 285/70R17 is listed @ 32. 8". Half of the difference is . 7" which still gives you 2. 8" clearance in your garage. Don't forget, the truck height is only changed by the difference in the radius. Just something to think about.

I don't think I'd buy the BFG. I don't believe this tire comes in load range "E". I run over a lot of rocks so I thought the "E" would be a good idea. I didn't have good luck with BFG AT KO's on a Jeep I had due to rock damage. Anyway, I'm interested in trying something else, maybe Cooper, Bridgestone or Toyo. I know Toyo has the Open Country 285/70R17 in load range "E" and I believe Cooper does, as well. If I go 285, I'll have to scrounge up a used tire for a spare. I don't really want to spend $200 for a spare. One advantage to staying with the stock size.



I will take a look at things after I get the Recon installed. One thing I have to keep in mind is I'll have to scoop all of the snow off the approach to my garage door. A build up of snow could be a problem!



Oh, and I measured my stock BFG's installed on the truck and, with 36,000 miles on them, the diameter measured 30 1/4". So, I'll be in a bit better shape on clearance when you figure the "squish" factor.

All of the springs are the same for all 3 kits. So any KORE kit will give the same reference. Are you getting VR coils, that is the difference. If you get HD coils, you will be slightly lower in front.

I wasn't suggesting that tire. Just comparing radius of the 2 sizes from the same company's chart. I'm also leaning toward the E rated Toyo Open Country 285/70R17.

BFG has a 305? what model?

I twas listed in the 2006 4Wheel Parts catalog - It is the AT. It's not on 4WP's web site, and BFG doesn't update their site very often.

I have Kore Recon and Toyo 325/70/17's. I park in my garage at home and work every day. Home there is about a 1/4 inch of clearance, but it fits. At work my antenna hits every I-Beam and scares the crap out of people when they ride with me, but it fits. Hope this helps

I'll measure it for you tonight.

Measurements are:



Garage Floor to top of the Garage door: 83 ¼”

Floor to the bottom of my rearview mirrors: 58”

Floor to the roof (kind of an estimate because of the curve):82 ¾” to 83”
