OK, here's a tip I haven't seen in any other thread, past or present. I can't guarantee it will help anyone else, but it sure nuff helped me.

I've been tinkering for the last few months (#6 plate, starwheel fwd. , aFe air filter, new overflow valve, etc. ), but none of this gave me any noticeable power improvement. Other symptoms included suspicously low max. values for EGTs, RPM and boost. Couldn't find any obvious problems (fuel pressure is good, charge air circuit is leak-free, turbo is fine).

On a hunch, I checked my throttle linkage last night. My shop manual calls for the distance from the center of the lever ball (on the throttle lever) to the rear face of the cable mounting bracket on the injection pump to be 126. 5 mm. Mine measured 120 mm. So I adjusted the length of the 'throttle lever to-injection pump lever linkage rod' (there's a catchy name, huh?) to give me 126. 5 mm. Then I took it for a test drive, and thought maybe I'd gotten into somebody else's truck by mistake... max RPMs were WAY up, 0-60 time was WAY down, and for the first time ever I experienced a sense of actual acceleration pushing me into the seat. Holy cow! Its as if all my mods suddenly woke up at the same time.

Anyway, from time to time one reads threads on this site from folks who have added bombs but see no performance improvement. Of course there are a million and one things that might cause this... but now there are a million and two: check your throttle linkage adjustment!
