Frantz Oil Filter Instillation

Just tried to amputate my fingure with a 48" pipe wrench and now it hurts to even type. :( That means it's going to cut down on the TDR time. :{ :{ Maybe if I soak it in some sider it will feel better in the morning. :p

If I wasn't at work I'ld have a beer. :{

I thought I was the only one that did things like that! I once was using a 36" pipe wrench with a 2" pipe cheater. Couldn't get the fitting loose so I jumped on the cheater. The cheater slipped and I hit my shin on the end of the wrench or on the cheater. When I caught my breath, looked down at my shin and saw bone splinters sticking out of my pants. Pulled them out and went to the doctor, wasn't much he could do. Still have a big dent in my left shin. Needless to say, that hurt like he**. :{

I think you win

Paccool, You win man, I ain't gona try that one. :eek: I was trying to loosen up some cast iron blower lines and the wrench slipped and pinched my fingure inbetween the wrench and the filter housing. :{ Took a nice chunck out of my fingure and it's doing the beg throb right now. :(

BigD,

Sure didn't feel like I had won at the time:--) . Hope your hand is OK and doesn't give too much trouble over the next few days.

What were you working on? Sounds like it may be a power generator or something like that.

Stan

illflem, Yep I got the joint loose but also loosend up my fingur nail in the process. :eek:

Stan, They are big forced air blowers. I work in a electroplating facility. We plate small electronic components that are used in computers, cell phone, automobiles, even got a couple government contracts in the arrow space industry. The blowers are used to rinse the parts after they run through each plating bath. The blowers are about 25hp 3 phase 480volt, and weigh about 300lbs and have 8" inlet pipe and 6 1/2" outlet. When they put in the cast-iron pipes they didn't coat them with anything and now they are all rusted. :rolleyes: So what is going on is the filters on the inlet side are getting clogged up in about a week and a half. Those filters are about the size of a BHAF (about 10" in diameter) and cost $48 a peace. That wouldn't be bad except we have 20 blowers. That's $960 about every 10 days, and that comes out of my bonous that I get twice a year. :{ So I brought up the bright idea of taking the inlet side off and sanding and painting them with some high temp paint. (opened my big mouth again:( ) I was trying to get one of the inlets off a blower and the wrench slipped and took out my poor fingure. :mad:

Oh well I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER happens. (usually to me):D

All in a nights work I guess:rolleyes:

I can understand the pipe wrench thing.

I was pulling the heads off a NTC400 and when the air gun decided to die at the least optimum time Captain Inteligence [me] decided to use a cheater bar. WWEELLL now, it was late, and I wasn't up to my full mental capacity and I was thinking of dinner and the wife. So instead of 'pulling' the bar which would requir walking ALL the way around the truck I decided to 'push' on the bar.

When the socket broke I found the little 2 inch long stud sticking out from the fire wall burried all the way in between my right index finger and middle finger.

to my great supprize I was stuck! And I mean'STUCK'!

My helper tried to unscrew the stud from the inside of the cab but that was NOT what I wanted to do. Just thing of someone unscrewing a 1/4" 2" long bolt from your hand.

Well the solution came as a suprize. I sliped.

To end this story, this same dump truck ran me over 2 months later.

And THAT is why I have a KENWORTH emblem hanging on my shop door. A little piece of the dog that bit me.

Here's a little trick that I use off-shore for the roustabouts and floorhands, but I modified it for you since your @ home.

Get 2 tumblers half full of ice. In one, fill with water and let stand for 5 minutes. Submerge finger in ice water fo 10-15 min. , repeat

2 x day (twice daily) for 3 days.

Since your @ home, fill 2nd glass with favorite adult beverage. (I prefer a single malt scotch) Enjoy!!Oo.
