L & G Tractor will not run w/o muffler (?)

Hello guys,

I'm trying to upload some video from a freinds digital handycam onto my computer. I have a sony digital camera, and I know how that works with my computer, I figured this wouldn't be any different, since it uses the same cable.

The problem I ran into is he didn't have a memory card in the machine, only an 8mm tape, so I guess what I'm asking is, can a install a memory card in the machine, run the tape and will the card pick it up? Or does the video in question need to be recorded in digital format to begin with?

Or, how can I get this video from the 8mm tape, on my computer?

Thanks, Rob

If it's a Digital Video Camera, you will need Sony's ImageMagik( I think that's the name of it) software. It should have come with the camera. That will let you use the USB cord to retrieve the video. Otherwise, you'll need a Firewire cord and software to get if off the camcorder.

ONce you get that software installed, you will basically be recording from the video cam to your computer off of the 8mm tape. Make sense? I hope so, those Miller Lites are gettin to me. ;)

Rob-

Have you checked the Sony web site? I would think that if the software was used to support the camera, it would be a free download. I ended up going with the Sony Digital 8 camera so that I could still play all my old Hi-8 tapes as well as record in Digital. One day I've got to transfer everything over to DVD. I'll check to see what kind of software mine came with.

Rob let me know if you need the software. I have 3 versions and will rip em to disk for ya. Sony and their usual "Rule th world" and share a seat next to bill attitude makes itjust about an act of god to obtain a freely distributed software. (Ever notice if you loose a sony remote you have no choice but to get an oem?)
