Well, after much debate, research, "discussion" with the wife, more research, and finally "convincing" the wife, I've decided to make the jump to a really different truck. As a little background, we just purchased a Keystone Everest 37' 5'er, about 14,500 loaded, and I just seen too many really ugly photos of guys involved in bad accidents pulling RV's with pickups. The thought of travelling cross country several times with my wonderful wife and three young kids in the back, then ending up in a crash like I've seen recently just doesn't sit right. Sooo, I started checking out some other forum websites, and found the Escapee's site (SKP) and their HDT forum. Look like I'll have the time to attend the next rally in Wichita in October, where I'll make my final decision, but as of right now I'm planning on selling big blue for a bigger white truck. Specifically a Volvo 610, Detroit 12. 7/470HP, Super10 trans, dual air seats, and converted to be registered as a motorhome; no CDL required. I do love my Dodge, don't get me wrong, but I just feel it's at the top end of it's "comfort range" for towing with 14k+ behind it. The Volvo won't even notice that much is back there.

For those that may be looking for a different rig, I plan on putting mine up for sale mid-October, and it will be in Maryland by then. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send you all the specs/BOMBs/pictures.

Mike

P. S. I'll be back :-laf

Good choice - and a WISE decision to actually get enough truck for the work it needs to do - wish more "light" truck owners would do the same!

Good luck to you, sounds like a smart move. I'm hoping the rumor's of the Dodge medium duty's for 07 pan out, though I'm not holding my breath. It sounds like it will be a very nice setup if it comes to light.

Yep, my brother-in-law is a fulltimer and pulls his 40 foot fiver with a 96 Volvo, I think it has a Detroit. Fuel milage isn't that bad either. He converted the back end with a deck, boxes, and added a custom pivoting winch to move his motorcycle on and off from the back of the cab. The best of luck with it.
