Hello

As a Believer in keeping with the Stock lift pump relocated to the frame rail.
I Am always interested in reading about the After market brands of lift pumps.
the kind with filters and air seperators mounted to them
A friend of mine has a 3500 dually and installed one of these systems
he swears that he is getting 100 more miles per tank of fuel now.

Are there any others out in TDR land who are experiencing these same results??

This could convince me to cross over from the stock replacement lift pump.

Any and all comments welcome.

Chris

I got nothing when I went to a FASS w/regards to MPG. My reason was for filtration. On a 2nd gen if the stock pump is having issues (weak, sucking air, etc) then I could see that a going to a FASS and replacing the plumbing would "fix" problems in the system and might give an increase in MPG. I'm guessing going from a perfectly working stock system to a FASS would not get you very much, if any, gains in MPG.

i really did not see any mpg increase when i installed my fass, however i do like the extra filtration, as well as longer filter change intervals.

Sounds like he might be one of the people that say they get 26 mpg all the time with their pick-up:) I would not take that too seriously.
I did not gain anything installing the Airdog, but I was not expecting it either.

100 extra miles per tank???? Tell us which system he has. No offense, but I don't believe what you're being told.

No change in mileage with my RASP system (mechanical pump)

I fully agree with the others. I love my FASS but I saw no mileage increase after I installed it.

If he's not BSing you, then he either made other changes at the same time, or he's driving differently.

I didn't gain any MPG when I installed my FASS, I just got tired of replaceing OEM pumps. I also had my pumps installed on the frame rail in front of the fuel tank.

HELLO
thank you for the replies, I did not believe the claims of my friend who said 100 more miles per tank. But I thought I would Ask the experts here on TDR. As I said My longest lift pump has now lasted since 2007 after I put it to the frame rail.
I read the Claims from the 2 major players below

SOOPER DOOPER SYSTEM 1 Claims
Fuel PumpsRemoves AIR / Vapor from Your Fuel
Fuel Pumps Consistent Flow of Fuel
Fuel Pumps are Reliable High Volume Pumps
Fuel Pumps Increase Horse Power
Fuel Pumps Increase Torque
Fuel Pumps Increase Fuel Economy
Fuel Pumps Reduces Carbon Monoxide & Carbon Dioxide
Fuel Pumps have a 6 Year Warranty on Most Applications
Fuel Pumps have a 13,000 - 15,000 Hour Life Expectancy
Fuel Pumps equates to 500,000 Plus Miles
Fuel Pumps have Up to 200 GPH
Fuel Pumps offer 160 Maximum PSI

Fuel Pumps Increase The Life Of Your Entire Fuel injection System

SOOPEDOOPER SYSTEM number 2 claims
Increase fuel economy
Increase torque output
Improve throttle response
Reduce exhaust emission
Extend fuel filter life
Enjoy a quieter engine
Enjoy a smoother idle
Optimize engine performance

and some of the claims from the above list interest me a great deal.
I also did a search here on TDR and found A lot of failures with these Sooper Dooper Pumps. But a lot of people love these pumps, and sometimes I feel like I might be missing out on something.
I keep a spare stock Pump that I can change out in ten mins on the side of the road.
I stay with the Stock because anywhere I am I can get one pretty quick from dodge Or Cummins and so far the frame rail relocation has stopped my pump failure.

so if the fuel milage gains are not true please tell me about the other benifits other than not having to buy more stock pumps??
have a great day
chris

The biggest feature to the Fass and Airdog pumps is not having to replace VP44 injection jumps as often by maintaining a constant 14 to 20 psi. Your friend may have seen a increase in mpg but it would be due to low fuel psi getting to the injection pump and causing possible pump timing issues.

No increase in MPG when I went to a FASS but I did have an increase in Confidence, LOL.

No problems in 4 years/65k miles. In the preceeding 30k miles I replaced 4 stock LP's and 1 VP, so that is a win in my book.
