Ok here it is kind of a dumb question. My 03 exhaust soots my truck and trailer a little more than I would like. Would a turn down tip help with this. Or is there a better option.

It's pretty common but mild unless your engine is modified for performance enhancement. I doubt you can do much about it. The airstream is likely to pull the exhaust discharge back around the trailer regardless of where the exhaust outlet discharges.

I have seen guys get improvement from the turn-down, it seems to dissipate more since it hits the road pretty quick. But the drawback is on dirt roads, you really kick up a lot more dust.

i can testify that a turndown will solve your problem. It will also kill grass if you idle in one spot too long.

LOVE my turndown and am secure in my manhood.

Thanks for the input now just to decide which turndown. As for the grass I have strict policy at the house that the trucks don't get on the grass as for the pasture who cares it will grow back.

A straight extension tip from Geno's worked fine for me to move the soot past the truck and RV.

Yep, worked for me on the last two duallies I owned. I haul an RV rather than tow it. The extension keeps the soot off the dually fender and it's below the slide-in camper skirt so no soot there either. Several of my TDR friends use a turn down to keep the soot of their fenders and towed RV. I had a turn down on a previous dually and like posted above, it stirred up a cloud of dust on a gravel road.

I have an extension on my exhaust and it seems to do the trick. I like it better than the turn down I had on my last truck.

This is how I did mine. . a Turn down at an angle. . seemed to shoot the soot out a bit around the trailer... This is a Genos Pipe

Turn Down With Enkay Rock Tamer's

I run the five inch turn down with the Enkay Rock Tamer from geno's and the soot is 100 percent gone on both the truck, and the trailer. I have pics in my sig.
