I learned a valuable lesson - never start a race on the interstate when you are doing 75mph, you defuel at 90mph and the opponent defuels somewhere above 100... .

This was on I-25, going up monument hill into a headwind for those that know the area.

Dang if things were going my way for that couple of seconds it took to hit 90. But it did not take much for that Power**** to pass me and leave me in the ditch going at least 10mph faster than I was.

Gulp.

I'll stick to those races that start at lower speeds... .

Nordby,

WHere do you live? I live south and east of Ellicott. I have the 1 ton All Rental had. Still has the lettering on the side. I have outrun a few Power cokes on the ramps, but my front end starts shaking at about 85. Sounds like that PSD had a chip. Most wont do 100. At least not the gutless wonders I have ever driven. And especially not up the northbound side of Monument hill. I beat one up the ramp coming off ACademy north the other day. Made my day to be rated for 80 hp less and have 10 years age and 150K miles on the PSD, and still whoop it.

DOtn feel too bad- we all have bad days.

When i first bought my pickup i was coming back from Kingman, Arizona on I-95 and my pickup would do 100 no problem and i still had pedal left. I had my cruise on going up the hills toward Hoover dam and my pickup would stay at the same speed but her car wasn't. She wasn't very happy about that fact. haven't got to race any powerstrokes yet but i'm waiting for May Madness, hopefully i'll have my injectors by then and figure out this TPS thing.

I looked through the little window in the ambulance (PSD) and saw ~95 while I was doing CPR on a guy...

Speed???

I keep forgetting to bring along the GPS, I've had the speedo waaayyyy past the numbers, I still don't know how fast it'll go, especially if I keep turning the RPM's up:rolleyes: :)

I live in Monument, just off Mt. Herman road on the west side of I-25. Indeed this "race" was up the northbound side of the hill.

I suspect he had a chip too, a little more black smoke out the back than I am used to seeing from powersmokes.

I'll keep an eye out for the all rental truck! Mine is a 2wd single cab maroon over gold, with a big maroon topper on it (weight for the non-existant snow - could you folks from the east send some our way??!!).

Jay, we have temp to spare too! 3rd warmest january on record. Most days hit the 50's, even had a few nights where it didn't freeze. A few days nearly hit 70 (they did in Denver). A pond at 7200' in the forest near the house has NO ice on it (It did partially freeze in December, and THAWED in january. ) We usually skate on this dec-mar.

Bizarre, and sad, as this drought is taking hold and the moisture content in the living trees is at or less that of lumber down at Home Depot. Farmers are getting it tough, and politics are getting ridiculous so folks can wash cars/flush toilets/water Ky blue-grass but not grow food out on the irrigated farms.

hang in there out east everyone, sounds like quite a deal going on out there.

So, a sad story has a great ending!! The on Ramp from baptist road, going north on I-25, on the same stretch of highway, 2 nights later, a CC dually duramax decides to get a little fired up.

Unlucky for him, and lucky for me, this race starts at 30mph in 3rd gear uphill into the wind. Got him good by the time we hit 70, ran out of road due to traffic - well over a truck length and had to let up to let him get out of the way until I could get around him at the end of the ramp.

I'm guessing he was 4x4 too - adding to my weight/drivetrain advantage, but I'll take what I can get!

So, some redemption at least! What fun...

I wish I could find some races. I run around with some other guys on the cruise at night. We used to be able to find a few decent races. Not anymore, I guess they don't like getting beat. I even had a built PSD tell me my truck was fast and then to ****off, he thought he had me beat cuz my trucks a little old and he had dumped some money in his. I'll race anything, even the little rice rockets with NOS.

Jon, no we cant send you what we dont have. WE got 8" a week or so ago, and it stuck around a while. Got 2" night before last, but it faded quickly. I still laugh at the people around here who MUST have a 4x4 for "all the snow. " MAybe in the mountains, but not this year.
