Sorry for the site being down tonight but it was worth it - search engine fixed

I apologize for the site being down tonight. It was down for approximately 2 hours - from 1a-3a eastern. I rewrote the search engine and had to do some major database changes for it be complete. The search engine should work much better than it has since the upgrade. Searches were taking upwards of 60+ seconds if you searched from the beginning - now it's down to 8-14 seconds.

Hi Steve - Great Job!

I have a problem that may be related.

My Drop down bars when you click on Forums, Magazine, or site features does not come down. This is just on the Home page.



To get here I had to manually type in the Http address for forums.

Another recent change - or at least only recently noticed - is the inclusion of "Old readers rigs gallery" in our user info area of posting - I had pretty well given up on finding my way to some of the older stuff I had previously uploaded to the site when the gallery area changed with new software - thanks Steve.

Gary, that link has been there the whole time. I put that link there at the same time that I installed the new software.

Mactruck - does the drop down menu work in the forums for you? If it works here but doesn't work on the home page what browser and version are you using? If it doesn't work here either then you have javascript disabled on your PC somehow - either through your internet security package or directly in your browser most likely. The menus and many other features on the site use javascript to work.

at the time I posted it was working but very Slow.



Now that I checked back all is working fine.

I only noticed it yesterday...
