And I know US folks sell them - but that's to bad - I'm not supporting French Companies - I don't care if the tires will go a zillion miles!

Many 5th wheel owners experienced tire failures with the Goodyear Marathons and, to a lesser extent, Goodyear Wrangler HTs that came on our rigs. I had 3 of 4 Marathons go bad on our previous 5th wheel, one of which failed with a tread separation that did over $2,500 in damage.

The accepted fix has been to go to the all-steel construction Michelin XPS Rib, a scaled down version of Michelin's Class 8 steer axle and trailer tire that's recommended by Michelin for commercial trailer applications. I've never heard of a failure on these Michelin XPS Ribs by anyone who's made the conversion.

Based on that, I had the Wrangler HTs on our 5th wheel changed out to Michelin XPS Ribs this summer, and I make no apologies for it. I'll use the best tool for the job, regardless of where it comes from, and I refuse to put my family and property at risk over political issues. For me, it's a matter of priorities. If your priorities are different, that's your business - vote with your wallet however you want.

Same here :)

Careful, some people get offended when you don't support every country, they say thats what starts fights. Personally I could give a rats behind to those people.

BUY AMERICAN!!!

If you watched ANY of the Tour De France this year, you would have seen fantastic people.

Lance confirmed this in his interview with Charlie Rose. He said you'd see a guy with a US flag cheering for the US Postal riders----in French.

The people, wine, and hot babes, are great. It's the government that we have a beef with. Do you agree with everything your government does?

Now is Michelin a government company? I don't know. China is another story.

Are your trucks up for sale? Last time I checked, DaimlerChrysler was a German company, and the Germans were right alongside the French and Russians over the Iraqi situation in the UN.

And my AMERICAN (really, GERMAN) Dodge truck was built in Mexico.

And my JAPANESE Acura 3. 2TL-S was built in Marysville, Ohio, USA.

And my FRENCH Michelin XPS Rib 5ver tires were made in Great Britain, our ally in Iraq.

Oh, and cancel those subscriptions to both Car and Driver and Road & Track since they are owned by Fillippe/Hatchette, a FRENCH holding company.

International politics and business certainly can be confusing, huh? ;)

And the most of the true owners of Michelin and many other France based companies, the stockholders, are American citizens, American banks and mutual funds. Boycotting them can come right back and bite you in the rear just like it did Montana.

Boycotting French products does nothing to change their county's government, all it hurts is the individual French worker most of whom could give a rat's about Iraq.

Well put!

I'm not buying any more French made Air Buses. At $50,000,000 each, that's got to hurt them. I'm not going to fly on the

Concord anymore either.

so i guess all of you who hate the french and michelin are going to throw away your BFGoodrich tires too??? michelin owns BFG eh. . ? i don't care myself, i never liked the michelin tire, and got rid of the ones on my 04 today, and got some nice BFG's instead...

Not as of 3 wks. ago. If you need 235x80x17r's, you better order them early. 5 out of 6 of mine were cracking just below the rim at 83K, they gave me a good adjustment, but there wasn't a Goodyear dlr. in the US that had any. Took 2 wks. on special order to get them.

I don't know if this thread is about a country or tire quality. But... I have travel Baja extensively and it is the true tire testing ground. I will only put Michelin's or Bridgestone on my truck and trailer. Have blown Goodyear right off the rim!! BF Goodrich are suppose to be good also. Did you know that the Goodrich's are owned and made by Michelin?? It's true, I work for Goodrich and we haven't made tire in 10 or more years, sold the name to Michelin.

With the global economy, its hard to tell where anything is made anymore. I still have the factory Michelin's on my CTD, and the Michelin's were made in the U. S. A. My CTD came from Mexico. My Honda Civic was made in Ohio. In a vehicle you probably have components from all over the world. The percentage of American made components in some Hondas and Toyotas are higher now then in some American brands made in the U. S. A. While some American car manufacturers are moving production out of the U. S. A. , companies such as Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, BMW and Mercedes are building factories in the U. S. A. KL

As long as none of you are the kind that snivel about American jobs going overseas and how rotten Corporate America is, I can live with it. If you start snivelling, then enjoy your imported products and stop paying union dues.

Personally, I would not pee on their lips if their mouth was on fire. Seems that the leeches want to suck blood from Iraq, although they were not willing to help the Iraqis. Typical of Socialists.

My blood has been here since 1633. Pardon my nationalism and KMA.
