Sorry for the three posts but wasw wondering if just having a overboost code in the ecm will make the engine run any different i. e. defuel after 21# or not?

Thanks for the help

Jared

It's ok

I don't know how you got a boost code with the ez in place. You might want to check all of your connections. I ran a comp for about a year and didn't get any boost codes. Yeah it will start defueling at 21 psi if everything is not getting a good connection.

something with your MAP sensor plug is loose

for the 02 models , the comp boxes use an adaptor from the 01 style MAP to the 02 style

I would think the ez would be same (dont know for sure)

I had a bad adaptor and it caused an overboost code

either you have the same or the plugs are just not locked

clean and check the connections first

Thanks for the help. I"m not sure when I got the code because I plugged in and unplugged the box several times w/out taking the boost elbow off and even tried to plug the factory elbow w/vaccum cap. I don't think it's a persistant problem, just wanted the code gone. Talked to dealer in ares thats pretty easy to get along with (I think?) about resetting the code he said try battery trick, but it doesn't work. He asked if I had a box and I said yes, he thought that's what set the code . He might reset it for me w/out to much greef but what will that cost , and if it isn't defueling what will it hurt? Or is it? Don't want to be flagged but shuold I worry about resetting it? Thanks again, Iam at a crossroad!!!

Codes

Try the battery trick. If that doesn't work just drive it and the code will clear itself after about three driving trips(each time shut the engine off).

if the code wont clear then its still happening

having the dealer clear it probably wont help you much other than clearing the code for the moment

then once you go over 22psi boost it will set again

MAP sensor plug is your huckleberry

Thanks I'll check connection and try di-electric grease. But if it never reset, with the box was taken off then possibly they are stuck there? I could never get them to clear even with the edge taken off. Tried the Batt. and the comp. behind the air intake.

do u have the boost elbow installed on the wastegate?

or some other type of thing to deactivate the wastegate?

huh huh I just did a wrime

if you do this will allow u to overboost even without the ez plugged in

therefore setting a code would happen again

hmmmmm

I dont know what else to tell u

all I know is if you hit 22psi without a good connection on the MAP to the EZ

you will set a code

Ive done it

I cleared it with the battery trick

and Ive let it clear itself

I hope someone can help you more

I know its frusterating when things just dont work right

Clearing Codes

Here are your options for clearing stored codes.

1. Battery Trick-Only works on certain codes.

2. Dealer Diagnostic- $60-$90 Ouch

3. Buy Snap-On scanner- $? Double Ouch

4. Buy half way decent scanner from O'reilys or Auto Zone-$150 but you will be able to do your own diagnostics and clear codes anytime you want.

5. Go to Auto Zone ask person behind counter to scan and erase your codes- $0 absolutely free.

Thanks for all the help. The codes are cleared, went to buddies mech. shop and cleared them . Now, what is setting them? Bought some di-electric grease to put on the map and diagnostic plugs (no adapters). Will install everything but boost elbow to night and test. If all ok will put boost elbo back on tomorrow.
