Please help me out. Had a 3500 long bed dully to pull a 5th wheels. I prefer the shorter truck, 4X4.

In the future I will be pulling a TT. Will the short bed be a good option for that job, 4X4? On an empty truck I can’t imagine that the short bed, 4X, will ride any worse than a long bed, 4X.

What do you think?

Anyone have experiencs with the options of: electric winch or the diesel space heater?

Please see my Poll @ "Product/Accessories Forum. "

I don't think it would make any difference with a TT but if you ever plan to tow a fifth wheel again some day you'll need to buy a sliding hitch and as you probably know, they're big $$.

If there's any small difference in ride I would think the ease of parking and maneuvering would more than make up for it.

I'd figure it depends on:

1. How big/heavy is the TT,

2. How well is it balanced (sufficient tongue weight, thus less tendency to sway?),

3. How often do you tow in slippery conditions or a strong cross-wind.

If it's relatively large, tends to sway, or you tow on snow, the longer truck sure adds resistance to going out of control.

When I tow my heavy boat, I'm often mighty glad to have the big truck. With my small TT, however, I'd far prefer the maneuverability of a short bed.
