guys , you would be surprised how awesome the tailpipe looks after 1 or 2 new SOS pads have gone over it. I did mine back to the first bend months ago and it looks almost like chrome.

Just a simple little thing that you will be surprised how many compliments you get on it.

Just thought I would throw it out to those that haven't done it.

Is this the stock tail pipe that you're shining? thanks, Doc

Hi All,

I couldn't live with the tip the way it was but would

rather spend the money on other things first, so :

400 Wet sand

1000 Wet sand

3M Super Polishing Compound

Cone shaped polishing pad on elec. drill with Stainless

polish

Less than an hour labor

JohnnyH, That is the stock pipe DC gives us. So far all I do is

wipe it off after washing the truck and use chrome polish once a week. It is by no means perfect compared to an aftermarket tip

but not bad considering the small amount of time I put into it

Btrom,

Thanks for the picture , I didn't have one handy at the time.

Thats what the SOS does to them also I've gone through a few on mine (sos pads) and all my powerstroke and duramax buddy's swear I've got an aftermarket exhaust, amazing what alittle elbow grease will do for that stock stainless steel. :D

Tailpipe

btrom,

That looks great. I think they screwed up and gave me a real ugly pipe, :D. I don't think mine has that inner beauty. :)

if you wax it after your done the shine will stay on a long time wash after wash. since it doesn't get all that hot the wax works good.

I started with 600 couldn't get it to look like the pic:mad: o well I guess ill go and get 400 and star over. Did you get that ugly seam covered up couldn't tell with the pic

Tail Pipe

Interesting. However if someone has the time to polish a tail pipe " me thinks that they have to much time on their hands, and no life".

I like to keep my truck looking nice, but I don't have the time in my life to waist on polishing " A Tail Pipe". I mean, Come on guys you must have other, more interesting things to do in your lives. :-laf :-laf

Funny, you had enough time on your hands to waste on this message. Why put down what people enjoy doing? What you have time for in your life has no significance to what other people have time for. And if you don't have time for something so SIMPLE... . sucks to be you.

What differance does it make when it rusts off at the muffler in less than 3 years. I didn't get 3 years from my muffler or tail pipe. It must have been very cheap steel.

I was just about to polish my tail pipe 'til I read the 'rest' of this thread.

I've been wasting time polishing my Lance Camper, my 5th wheel RV, my Goldwing, my ski boat, and all the other stuff in my shop.

I guess I could just sit around and polish my knob!

:-laf I sit around and polish my knob all the time... .

But no matter how much I polish it will never look as shiny as that tail pipe!
