On Saturday I did the back wall behind the rear seat and all 4 doors. I used the B-Quiet products. A layer of Brown Bread (the best of the 3 they offer) overlayed with a layer of Original on the back wall. The doors were done with a layer of Extreme. I noticed an improvement. Not real dramatic, but still an improvement. The stereo sounds better, too! I believe most of what I'm hearing now is through the floor. I was going to do the roof but ran out of time.

Since I have plenty left over, I will do one or 2 layers on the floor where ever I can without taking out the front seats. But that will be another weekend.

The whole project took me about 8 hrs Saturday.

JGK,

And about how much BQuiet did you get, of each?

-- I am trying to get a comparison on the costs of the ATP 4pc basic kit at $650, versus $500+ or so in materials and 1-2 weekends in the garage.

-- Or is it $250-$300 in materials and 2 days in the garage?

-- How much material can I get for $150 range? Is this too little and not worth it?

-- Maybe I should just live with it. The mightly cummins doesnt sound too bad anyway. But I do like the road noise and stereo improvements, people talk about. And less exhaust noise? What about that?

Hmmmm..... Decisions, desicsions... ... .

SlyBones,

I ordered the 35sq. ft. roll of Brown Bread, the 33 sq. ft. roll of the Extreme, and the 18 sq. ft. roll of the Original. All said and done, about $180 using the PayPal discount they are offering.

I used about 8 sq. ft. of BB overlayed with a layer of Original on the back cab wall. I planned on using the BB on the roof, so that's why I ordered more (figured on about 20 sq. ft. there). I'm not sure I'm going to do the roof. May use it on the floor instead.

I overlayed the Original on the BB mostly because it's dark blue color is similar to the truck color so any seen around the edges of the back seat would not be obvious (hides the shiny foil of the BB).

I figured on about 8 to 10 sq. ft. per side for all 4 doors. That's where I put the Extreme. I ordered twice that much in case I wanted to double it or use it elsewhere.

I would say I only used half or less of what I ordered, but I may double up on the floor when I get around to it, just to use it up. Most of what I'm hearing now I believe is through the floor.

For what I paid, I figured I have all I'll ever need. If that much doesn't make enough improvement, nuts to it. After all, it is a diesel and you should plan to hear it somewhat! Enjoy the sound!

You could easily spend a weekend doing it all. It is fairly easy to do, just cut it into 1 to 2 ft. square pieces for ease of handling and get a little roller to roll it down. I used a wood wallpaper roller, about 1-1/2 in diameter and about 1-1/2 inches wide.

BTW: UPS shipments out of Canada, where this comes from, seem to be kinda slow. Plan on 2 weeks shipping time.

Wrap Your Stack!

I wrapped my exuast pipe post turbo over resonator back to the muffler and made a significant reduction in the DRONE. I used thermotech tape cost less than $60. 00.
