While my 2001 is idling is sounds like it has a miss. I have changed the filter and lift pump. The pump was dead and now I have a miss. It runs great going down the road. Thanks for the help.

I had this EXACT problem also, it seemed to appear after my lift pump was replaced. i chased this gremlin for a long time. IF your problem is only occurring at idle. Then you will find you have one bad injector in the motor. ( the high idle test the dealer does or anyone with a diagnostic tool that shuts down the cylinders 1 at a time will NOT find the bad injector). You must pull all 6 injectors and take them to a diesel shop and have them tested. ( pop-off /pressure test). You will find that one of those injectors has a bad spray pattern, hence giving you the rough idle. :) good luck , hope this helps. .

While idling at a signal light today, I suddenly had a "funn" miss like idle; a slight increase in RPM got rid of it, but when allowed to idle it returned. Light changed and I drove away. Numerous times at idle thereafter did not repeat the event??

Give anyone ideas?

That is what mine is doing. I drove it last night and it does not miss when I first start it up. It is after I drive it for awhile, and then stop and leave it running, then you can hear a miss or stumble. Other than the stumble at idle, the truck runs great. I guess I will change the cam sensor and see if that helps.
