Tips on installation of the Mass Diesel transmission line.

Spent some time at the local dealer's shop tonight (best friend is shop foreman) and he had some literature on the new 6 speed manual transmissions. Under the G56 section, it talked about fluid capacities. To paraphrase, on the Diesel/G56 setup, the capacity is 6 qts and with the Hemi/G56 setup, the capacity is 5 qts. Don't quote me exactly if it is 6&5 or 7&6, the main thing is the 1 QT DIFFERENCE (I remember that exactly) in the recommended fluid capacities for the 2 engine/transmission setups. When servicing, it said to fill both to just below the fill plug.

Now, what gives here?? From this, I gather that there is a difference in the parts then between the G56/CTD and G56/Hemi setups. Why would the same transmission have 1 less quart in the Gas engine setup?? Then if you are to refill both up to the fill plug, the case casting must be different then, with different fill plug locations.

It must be then that the instructions for the assembly workers called out the fluid specs for the Hemi setup, hence the need for adding 1 qt of fluid at the dealers. Perhaps the 2 trannys are the same in name and gear ratios only, and the Diesel version is beefed up more, thus requiring more fluid??

What do you all think??

This deduction sure would make sense on where the extra quart went, but what about that whole fill it ABOVE the fill hole thing that we heard about?
