sourcing getrag parts

I've been sourcing kits (bearings, seals, synchro rings) and input shafts. Here's what I've got so far:



Standard Transmission

kit: $516. 62

shaft: $171. 06



ManTran

kit: $311. 09

shaft: $86. 36



Quad4x4

kit: $439

shaft: $180



Why the big difference in prices? Does anyone know who has the best quality? Apparently, many of the bearings are made in USA, but no guarantees. The shaft, however, is almost exclusively imported (For example, the ManTran one comes from India). Thoughts, opinions appreciated…

Everything I have used recently has been either good used or ManTran. I have been satisfied with what I got from ManTran. There are some minor differences with the import input shaft and I question that but I have not heard of a failure contributed to that.



Don't know about the other folks.

I have been studying the same thing for months, finaly decided on the 2 companies who show me the goods in a photo (ebay) don't like phone tag or ordering parts unseen. Also Zumbrota And Mantrans seemed best price on basic kit.



Zumbroda-- bearings, seals, gaskets, $111. 69 (fast shipping)

Happy to report Koyo (Japan) brs. Not China or India. The day of USA brs. is gone I guess.

Got Getrag apart, need syncro's, plus a 2nd Getrag waiting in line, so ordered from Mantrans this time.



Mantrans--brs + syncros (brass) in photo. $260. 66. Waiting shipment. Both my Getrags have steel syncro's with brass inserts on tear down.



I wonder about the wide range of prices on input shafts ? Could it be we are getting the SHAFT ?

My India experience. Bought a Farm store over running clutch PTO shaft for 45 hp massey Harris tractor to run 6' bush hog. Mowed 10 min when snap ring let go and lost parts. Company sent me another, 30 min. use in grass only. Noticed spline was twisted ! Now if I could only run it backwards and straiten shaft. LOL !
