YET another injector thread...

fan clutch

Well its here!! And all I can say is its GREAT!!

The clutch is very quiet due to the design of the center plate. And it has a billet flywheel.

The engagment is very smoth and has a softer peddle than most all of the SBC clutches that I have ran. Its driving mannors are VERY tame!!

The install on this will be no more difficult than installing a STOCK clutch.

The performance of the clutch so far is near perfect. Time and sled pulls will tell really how well this clutch will perform. With a THIRD gear launch I spun the tires for 250' to 300'.

The price of the clutch will be between $1,600 and $1,700.

For any tech questions on the "DD" clutch please contact South Bend Clutch.

Some of the gltdr members got to see that dual disc clutch a couple of weeks ago and it looks sweet we missed the guy that was there sat for a demo so I will have to wait to drive one for some time. Does SBC have a trade in program? Trade in my ofe for the dual disc. I should have waited the 4 months for this new clutch. What kind of lining was on the disc ? organic or ferrimetic?

You might want to give SBC a call tomorrow and they will be able to answer your questions. 1-800-988-4345

John_P,

I think this clutch is gonna be a BIG hit with a lot of diesel heads!

Jim Fulmer,

Yea its nice to have something to hold the power. But the truck is still de-tuned.

I was wondering if you were getting one these JR when I went threw the tour up with the GLTDR group.

That was a nice looking clutch setup.

SBC actually recommends this clutch for sled pulling and will stand behind it if used that way?

(I just want to avoid any confusion right away. )

Thanks, Jim

I think this clutch can do what the sled pullers, and racers are wanting it to do, and get by with it easier then the previous ones. This is more of a compitition clutch, but breakage will happen over a certain length of time, would you warrenty something that WILL BE ABUSED by harshness such as this? Now Peter is a reasonable guy, and if it's something that needs to be taken care of, then I'm sure you can work something out.

This clutch is a great looking unit. I would seriously concider this one, should I ever get a manual. :)

Andrew

LMAO@Peter, is your customer service policy slipping? :D ;) (no pun intended, ok, maybe it was intended) :p

Update!!

After 400 hard miles this clutch keeps getting better! It has gotten just a lil grabby but is still less than my 13" FE. What more can you expect from a twin disk? It looks like a winner to me!!

So does a billet flywheel weigh much more than a stock steel one? Some thought that was an issue with the torque convertors. Just curious if that would be a concern here.

I think that the weight is gonna be very close to the stock flywheel if not less. The billet flywheel is IMO gonna be a much stronger unit.
