In a couple of posts above I think you mentioned 'going to another brand' Did you mean another clutch or another truck?... ... it sounded like another truck which SBC may have mis-construed as 'another clutch'. That could have raised an eyebrow on SBC's side especially after sending you the parts.

Another brand, as in another brand of truck... this 3rd gen has taken a lot to keep on the road and somewhat reliable at only 234k. It may very well be my last diesel, it is definitely my last new Dodge.

The OFe in this truck is the third clutch I have purchased from SBC in so many years.

Reverse jerking

In regard to the problem of jerking while backing, especially with a trailer attached and backing up grade. Placing the truck in 4 Low if you have 4wd definitely makes a big difference. But when doing this on pavement can cause some pretty severe stresses on the drive train known as wind up. I recently installed SpynTec's lock out hub conversion kit on my truck to prevent this. With the hubs locked out and the truck in 4 low, it is actually in 2wd low now and backing is a piece of cake. Also the lock outs save a tremendous amount of wear on the front axel, drive shaft, U joints etc. since the front end is not turning any more. I guess the only disadvantage is if you need 4wd you have to get out and lock the hubs, Big Deal! If you anticipate needing 4wd you can always lock the hubs and it will be the same as driving before the conversion and just shift into 4wd when needed form inside the truck. They claim some fuel savings too, but if any, it is probably one mpg or so.
