Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) South Holland, Illinois- anyone close to it?

Can any member close to South Holland, Illinois please help me out? I am looking at a truck at South Holland Dodge, but it is a 7 hour drive for me and I don't have time to get over there right away. THe truck is a red 99 quad cab, 6 speed, 4x4. I would like to have somebody impartial check it out for me for basic things such as ball joints, 53 block, oil leak, and other problem areas. I am serious in buying right now since I just sold my truck and I already miss it. Thanks.

I should be over there next week, I have to go over to elmhurst to pick up a lift and will drive right through south holland it looks like i will let you know when i go over.

that will work im going up late tonite so it will be light when i get to the lift. By the time i get loaded and head back maybe the lot will be open and can take it for a drive. I'll try and remember my camera and get some pics for ya.

ah crap, i'm looking at the same truck. it's really a 5 speed. truck link

I thought the shifter looked like a 5 speed, but the ad says 6 speed, the dealers website said 6 speed and the dealer told me on the phone that it was a 6 speed. I guess they did change one of the descriptions to 5 speed on autotrader.



I'm acutally looking for a 98 12 valve, but I know how hard they are to find.

stopped and looked at the truck for you. the sales guy said that two people where coming to look at it today so make sure you call before going up there. truck looked to be in good shape has fender flares and running boards on it rhino liner interior looks good. it is a five speed. has a small dent on the drivers side rear quarter behind the wheel (minor). just the normal leaks for a 99 no puddles under the truck or anything. the sales guy said all service was done at that shop and they have the records to prove it.

john i have a salesmans card for you i will pm you tommorow with the info on it i left it in the truck at my shop when i came home.

i wont buy the truck because they told me it has a 53 block. if it was a 6 speed and no 53 block, then i would probably buy it sight unseen.

Thank you so much for doing that Chuck. I was at the TDR meet in Lancaster tonight and I heard your name come up, but I don't know what about. It was pretty nice, Donatos had the entire upstairs blocked off for us.
