Guys have any of you had problems with Southbends heavy duty hydraulic slave unit failing. My clutch pedal just went to the floor. looked into it and the plastic resevoir body snapped off the metal mounting plate that attaches to the firewall.. The unit has only been in for a year and truck sits most of the time, have only about 5000 miles on the unit. Any help would be appreciated Hoping i can reach out to SBC tomorrow. in a jam and need the truck working. failed at most inconvenient time.

Never heard of this before….mine has been working flawlessly for 5 years plus! That being said, there can always be a problem with faulty manufacturing (or of course faulty installation). My advice is to call SBC and If at all possible, ask to talk with Peter!! Whoever you talk with, ask them POLITELY if they have seen this before and what may have caused the unit to separate. Let them know of your problem and inconvenience with your work truck and that you would much appreciate a replacement asap. They are well known for taking care of their customers even after any warranty on their part is up as long as as the people involved are civil and not angry/demanding.

ALSO, please be sure to update the thread with findings/results.

I read on one of the forums where someone had the same problem. It was mentioned that Southbend had a retainer plate or something to stop that from happening. When you call them you might ask about the retainer. If they do have a solution, let us know if it is available as a retrofit or only to be supplied with new hydraulics.
