I got my new SPA press sensor (and thermocouple) yesterday and need to splice it in to my old wire harness. Does anyone know what wire is what on the old "square" style connector?? I have had it apart before and there are red, black and green wires. I assume that the red is volatage, the black is ground and the green is signal. Is this correct??

I am going to go put a volt meter on the wires and find the hot one and I shoyuld be able to find the signal too... . but maybe someone knows for sure.

Thanks

John

By the way, the new SPA press sensors with the pig tail look real nice. Much better than the old square head style. I wish I had the other side of the connector that was on the pig tail. I know I could get one from SPA but I can not wait to get it installed as I have a borrowed boost sensor in now (thanks Brandon).

Also the new style thermocouple looks much tougher than the old one and it must be double or tripple the diameter. Comes with shrink tubing and such to make it real water proof.

John, I looked in the manual that they sent with the gauges. I didnt see anything that told us what wire is what. I'm telling you this just incase you dont have the manual anymore.

I am not an instrument type guy but, why wouldn't the green be the ground? Isnt that the normal color for ground?

I wish I could help, but can't... :{ :{ :{

Hope you get it figured out... .

Barry,

I looked in both my manuals and could only see that there were three wires, no pin out or anything useful. I too am a bit challenged in the electrical department. I am getting better but who knows. In my limited experience black is usually the neg wire, but that is not always the case.

I went out and started to check the sensors with my volt meter but it is 12 degrees out and my truck will not fit in the garage. I think I will wait till tomorrow, its susposed to be in the upper 20's in the afternoon.

Thanks again and maybe some one will come throuhg.

i dont know off hand but if you want i will check for voltage signal and ground..... i am really sure green is ground though

Brandon,

That would be great, especially since its warmer where you are and you have a shop to do it in. The only reason I thought that the black was the ground is that is what the pin out on the "new" sensor says. On the new sensor red is V+, black is v- (ground) and the white is +V (signal). I just assumed that they would follow some what of the same pattern. If you get a chance to test it out please do. If not I will try it tomorrow evening. I am going out to the garage now to chop off the little plug on the new sensor and soldier my new cannon plug on.
