I am going to get 5 or 6 more of the new thermocouples next week and will have them in trucks asap. We just want to make sure they work properly before SPA starts shipping them out.

I talked to B on the phone back when these MarkII's where first arriving about this problem. He said mine was fine, but how would I know? I have one of the very first recived from ADT back in January.

Andrew

On Edit: Mine idles at 240-250, and never goes over 800 unless i'm going 85+. But all I have is an EZ too

Is this just a problem on the Mark II's? I bought a new TC about 6 months ago,it worked for a week, and does the same thing,330-300 degrees at idle, actually goes down when you get on it. WOT read 250-800 EGT's. I know im every bit of 1450.

It is the thermocouple not the gauge so if you bought a new thermocouple in the last 6 months or so it is going to be low and slow.

BPine,

Is this a problem with in the last 6 months, or with ALL the MarkII's that came out before a certin date?

thanks for doing this work for us.

Oh man, that means I got the bad one. Mine came with a little 1/8" adapter for the 1/4" tc. :(

Thanks for setting me stright though. :)

Tom you are on my list I should get them in a few days and I will send you one, please PM me your address so I can send it.

PM on the way Blair. I had been out of town for a few days, and had no internet access, so I hadn't seen your response. My sincere apologies.

Thanks,

Tom

Blair, if you need someone else to test these let me know. If not please let me know your results. These gauges cost way to much money for them not to be accurate.

New TC Failed

Well folks, I met BPINE yesterday to pick up one of the latest TC's. I replaced it right there in

the parking lot. It responds beautifully, quick going up the scale as well as down. Unfortunately it didn't last very long. It's reading 32* all the time now:confused: I think it's toast:{

Thanks for working hard on this problem Pinestein;) Something good has to come of this. Evidently later, not sooner:(

I really love the SPA's looks, features, and options, but it seems as if mine are always acting up. I havent had a working/reliable EGT guage in over 5 months now. Even when i think its working,i dont trust it. I am seeing high EGTs now, even though they should have dropped with my turbo change,if anyone may have an idea whats up with mine, let me know. Is there a way to check the amplifier with an ohm meter,or calibrate it,that would help too. It intermittently reads real low, about 300 crusing at 70,and goes up to 600 on level 5x5( i know its aleast 1400. ) When its working ,it hits 1530 WOT within 5 seconds on 5x5 with the B1,,which is only a drop of 50-70 degrees over my HX35/14,this drop does not coincide with what others have posted, some are saying a 2-400 degree drop was noted. I keepo thinking my new pyro is shorted, but then it works for a while,I have the 1/8" pyro, and its about 6 months old,ot worked good for 1 month after putting it in.

Snow,

Omega has a meter/calibrator that could be used to verify your wiring and meter display. You select calibrator mode, select the thermocouple type, and key in the temperature that you want the meter to output the millivolts for that t. c.

I've used this unit often at work and you may be able to locate this unit or one similar at a shop that does equipment calibrations. Make a couple calls from the yellow pages.
