just put new tires on my 98 3500 dually 235/85/16 it had 215/85/16 and the space between tires is only about 5/8 inch with no load. I am concerned about loading the truck and having the tires touch.

I called tire shops, auto parts stores, and even the dealer but can't get a spacer to put between the wheel.

Can some one tell me where I can get wheel spacers at??

Robert,

I run spacers on my 97' 3500, I to wanted larger tires, but hual a heavey trailer. So I needed more space between them. I PERMORMANCE WHEEL they sell custom spacers that are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, they are very tough. I've been using them for about 3 years and havn't had any problems. You can get what ever size you want, I went with a 1 1/4" spacer, it gives me almost a inch between tires. I was alittle worried when I first bought them, I had never talked to anyone who had run them, and most people on the web were affraid to run them, but they worked out just fine, I love them. www.performancewheel.com and 303-762-8875, go for it, and good luck.

that's where I got mine last dec. 2 1/2" I'm runnin 285/75/16

the tires stick out about 2" past the flare but I don't care that's kept the flare from gettin mashed more than one time

& yes the can handle a load just fine , just like y-knot said I was woried at first but that only lasted till I was the first time & wasn't thinking about them & thinkin about gettin the job done

they work great & add stability too

How much more of a hassel is it to change tires then? I would asume one wheel is behind the spacer and one in front? I am also lookin to run 235's , you only need spacers for the back right? no need to move fronts out with a "little" bigger tire. Any odd wear patterns on outside duals from flexing?

Craig

as far as 235's go I ran them on my truck w/o spacers just fine

BUT w/ 245's + you need them

as for "Any odd wear patterns on outside duals from flexing? "

they wear better since they are spread over a wider area & as for flex - 0% - the 6061 alum. is so strong we would break the studs first off the axel

now r&r of a inner weeellll that can be a PITA you need a deep socket ( I do ) & a tq wrench too tq at 95 -110 ft # I run 95

but that's something I only have too deal w/ every 5k miles for rotation of tires

CSEVERS,

Yes you only put the spacers on the rear tires, after all they are the ones you are trying to seperate. No I have not had any ODD wear patterens or any related problems. I run BFG MUD TA's if there was a wear issue, or any type of issue, I'd know it. I get great wear from the tires, so no problems. They are not that much more work. You mount the inner tire, put your addapter on, I get all my nuts snug, then I slowly bring them up to torque. I go in a cris cross patteren, first round to 50bls, second to 90, and the third to 130lbs. This takes everything up slowly, and assures a good seat. The mount the outer tires and repeat. I do the cris cross thing on all tires, thats just me. One diffenit advantage of the spacers, besides add with and stability, is the increased space between the tires, really cut down on the amount of rocks thrown, they don't seem to get hung in there.

just an FYI here

not flaming anyone who uses them...

235x85x16 will fit without any issues "IF" you use an very HD tire like Mich. XPS ... sidewalls do not flex on these. . all steel sidewall. .

I did this on my old rig [1998. 5] and loaded heavy in the box. . 3000 lbs and had NO tire clearance issues and I went over a very twisty and steep mountain roads for many miles. .

however I would not do it on a non comercial tire as the walls flex to much IMHO even though they do fit.
