As I slide down this never ending slippery slope of truck mods I find myself in need of a little front end lift. I put on a set of wheels that have a wide off set and some 305/70R16 tires and I have a little rub goin' on. As I do research, I find my alternatives are spring spacers or new (heavier/taller?) springs that come in some leveling kits... . What do you guys think/like? My thoughts are spacers are cheaper but are they good enough... I don't usually go for "good enough" just because I don't like to half ***** stuff...

Your opinions are appreciated.

If you just need tire clearance, spacers will do.

If you think you might someday add a heavy duty bumper and/or winch, go with higher rated springs.

Either way, you need to address the steering alignment. I see you've already done the 3rd gen trackbar & DSS.

bought some steel spacers from ebay, pretty cheap price and good product

no complaints from the spacers. but as been said get it aligned after whichever way you go.

Mike I think the wide offset is the reason for your rub issue. If the wheel/tire is too far away from the frame they may rub the outside edge on the fender liner. It they are too close to the frame then they may rub the suspension links behinde the tire and the frame rail in front of the tire. I'm pretty sure raising the front end will not eliminate the rub if it is being caused by the wheel offset. I hope I'm wrong for your sake. I have 305/70/16 w/Eagle wheels and had 305/70/16 on the steel chrome stock wheels and never had any rub issues. I put the spacers (steel) on just to level the fron end out a bit. Good luck with the rubs.

You're right about where the rub is... I guess I should try spacers (cheaper) first and then go to a different wheel if the rub continues... Ya know it never fails... . it's always something, if it's not one things it's another... . I should have known this would happen since I got a great deal on the wheels!

Keep us posted Mike. Remember, "it's all good!". And like you said "if it wasn't one things it'd be someother".

I made a choice...

After much deliberation/askin' around I've decide to go with a Revtek 702 2" leveling kit. About $300. installed. My plan is if it still rubs I'm going to change wheels (again!) to something that has the proper offset...

This way I'm not spending too much on a lift... and really, I don't care either way about lifts and if I still end up changing wheels I haven't squandered too much money (AGAIN!)... .

I'll let you know how it works out.
