someone with more issues than brains

JD w/excessive smoke

A buddy of mine has a 2002 F-350 with a BD power chip and K&N air filter. He was next to me on the highway when he called me on the cell, said he wanted to run the Dodge. He counted to 3 and we took off. Or at least I did. I left him so far back I thought he was fooling around. But he said he had his foot to the floor. So much for the "power" in Power Stroke. And that's with a 1998 with 150,000 miles on it and very mildly enhanced.

I was at the drag strip last night and had a Ford call me out for a grudge match. The Ford did not do so well, after the race all he could do is  . He said he did not know a Dodge could go that fast. I posted results in comp forum. Ken

Well there is some powerjoke around here that has 100hp diablo chip and is claiming 500hp and 600ft tq. Oooooh I can't wait to get my headgasket fixed... . I am gonna show him what 500 hp looks like. Hell, he'll be lucky to see my tail lights.

Don't forget to say something like "WOW! This is really great. I never beat a Ford before" when you talk to the Ford driver later.

I thought phord had the fastest strongest truck around:confused: Atleast that what they said when the pherd beat the chevy while pulling stock trailers, Or pulling that airplane;)

Hey dude, there wasnt a 98 Powerstroke. Well, there were PSD's made in 98, but they were'nt "98's".

Anyway, I always enjoy reading these stories, both here and on the Ford site. The poster most always exagerates things and has to make fun of the other driver's truck. Realize something people, there's a lot of factors involved that posters dont usualy include and details get streached.

Yup, I own a Powerstroke (1997), but I'm selling it in favor of a 12v Cummins. I'm not biased, I dont believe in brand loyalty, and I think a lot of posts to this effect are bogus. I say the same thing to the Ford guys on the Ford boards that I go to so I aint just pokin at yall.

I got a question, does it make yall feel more powerfull or something when you call a PSD a "powerjoke"? What the heck is that? Most of yall know as well as I do that the PSD is a dang fine engine, and so is the Cummins, even the Duramax is holding it's own. Deny it if you want, that's what ignorance does to folks.

Calling them a powerjoke does not make me more powerful. I call them a powerjoke because they produce less HP/torque when you compare the actual displacement of the motor. It is pretty sad that a 5. 9 liter motor has more power than a 7. 3 liter motor. .

It is rather amusing that marketing calls them a powerstroke when in fact they have less stroke than a Cummins motors. I guess the Cummins does not need a gimmicky name to sell. Most diesel mechanics will tell you which one is better.

I love it when a new Phord guy come on here and trys to school us. Come on man. You know you are here to research your next purchase. I passed you the other day on a hill. I was hauling my JD backhoe and went by you at 80 and climbing:{ NO WHINERS

Look at it again. The '98 he is referring to is his own truck. The PSD was a 2002, it's in the very first line of his post.

(First all, don't "Y'ALL" me, and I won't YUNZ you. What the heck is a Powerstroke is the question, becuase it does not have power, and certainly it is shy on stroke)

(Fine engine compared to what???If you like gutless, throw away engines, sure)

Holding their own against what? GMs previous record , 6. 2 and 6. 5?

The Cummins is far and above the light duty V-8s and as soon as the Forders and Gm guys admit that, we prolly all will get along much better!

The only PoS Ford that has even tried to run me got his doors blown so bad I couldn't get him to give me another run! He was puffin smoke when we took off too. My truck has ONE fuel mod and a slipping like heck clutch. And I ain't "STREACHIN" NUTHIN.

PS/DM= flawed design that'll never be as good as the I6. Reasoning. Every diesel manufacturer _has_ built (and still may for special aps) V8's, the only ones still trying to use one (I guess it's a special ap!) is FoMoCo and GM. If Cummins or Caterpillar starts putting V8's in OTR trucks and farm tractors and heavy equipment--then I might think that I need a V8 in my truck. But they've BTDT and learned how dumb it was.

I don't need empowerment, but I'll call names if provoked. I was just amazed at how easy it was to blow off a FORD that came pickin the FIGHT!

Just a note here, when someone says they got a hot chip in their Ford, that doesn't always mean is the best for their computer/engine. We sell tons of chips everyday, and not all programs will work good on all trucks. We have tried. There are too many varibles in different year models, not to mention the differences in ONE year models computer system.

Just an FYI, most of the hotest chips are a 4-program chip, which gives the user 4 different settings to choose from, simular to our comp boxes. :)

Hey Greg, you said

"I love it when a new Phord guy come on here and trys to school us. Come on man. You know you are here to research your next purchase. I passed you the other day on a hill. I was hauling my JD backhoe and went by you at 80 and climbing"

Well yea I'm researching my next buy, re-read the 3rd paragraph in my post. I just think this whole brand war and name calling thing is a waste of time and pretty imature.

And I'm not a "new Phord guy", I've had plenty of Dodges before I bought this Ford and I've been reading this board for quite some time. I just recently decided to pay and join in.

You must feel purdy cool to pass a truck that's just cruisin along. Where where we when you passed me? What road, what town? I travel a lot so I dont know where your talking about. And how do you know it was me?

As for the rest, I too think it's pathetic that the Powerstroke's power / cid ratio is so low, but it's still a great engine. That's one of the reasons I'm going back to a Dodge, but I just dont care much for the Dodge truck. I wish I could afford to just swap a 12v into my truck, then it would be perfect for me, but the up front cost is too high. Cant finance something like that:(
