I blew out a right front tire on my 3500 tonight and I spent an hour jacking the thing off the ground. The jack D/C gives you really bites the big one. Does anyone know of a better one? I'd even consider getting one that runs off compressed air so I can justify getting an on board compressor.

<font color=red>That POS jack was the first thing to leave my truck. I've got one of those little 2 ton hydraulic jacks that goes in my toolbox. Easier and safer than that factory jack.

I carry an 8 ton bottle jack. They're available at most auto parts and tool stores, and they don't take up much space. I keep mine in the box it came in, it's about 8"x8" x 12" tall. I never have to worry about overloading this jack!

Because I always have my camper in the bed of my truck, I carry a 12 ton bottle jack. I bought it at Wal-Mart and if memory serves me correctly it ran $34. I have used it quite a few times to raise my truck and it works great. Very small and compact... ARlan

I'm with the rest of the answers. Since having a Phord jack disintegrate on me (the side ruptured and "stuff" stuck out of the split)in the rain on the interstate a while back, I carry a 4 ton bottle jack in my box.

AZCummins, I feel your pain! The Weeney DC unit is in the Hurt Locker! I bought a 12 ton bottle jack and it fits in the stock spot using the stock strap. I needed the extra capacity when hauling my camper. GET WITH IT DC, yer' slippin'... ... .

I had to change a tire on the interstate too with the factory jack! These tgetys are heavy! I was on my way to get brand new rims AND tires and was about 10 minutes from the store! I was jacked! (no pun intended) I got the 2 3/4 ton floor jack under my tool box now.

I carry a Hi-Lift, but I have the bumpers for it. I wouldn't use it on stock bumpers.
