How to find recalls?

Just put on a new set of Bridgestone AT 285/75-16. The first set lasted 58,000 miles. I took the least worn tire and had that mounted on the spare rim. After putting it in place, there is only about 5/8 ths of an inch left. A new tire would NOT fit. This is very close to the exhaust.

How close is too close? Any feedback?

I have a brand new Michelin 245/75-16 LTX for sale to anyone in the Seattle area. Email me if you wish to purchase -- email address removed --

My son has the BFG 295/75 16 on his 99 and he has had one of my old 285/75 16 for his spare for over a year. I think thats about as big as you can get in there.

I have a used(tested) 295/75r/16 bfg with 25% tread left under the backof my truck and it clears the frame by 1/8 th on an inch on both sides and is touching the hanger of my bullydog 4inch exhaust. Talk about a tight squeeze:D

Best regards

I don't have all the details right now but remember some posts where people have used some kind of a spacer and cranked the spare up to the frame without storing it between the frame rails. Anyone know anything more about that?

Dave.

I have a BFG AT KO 285/75/16 for a spare and it is worn out, maybe 3/16" of tread left and that is ALL the tire I can get in between the frame rails. I had to kick and stomp it up in there too. There is no way a half worn 285 would fit in mine, so forget about a new one. I have the 6. 5 inch wheels so it will be a bit taller than one on a 7. 5 inch wheel. I also turned my exhuast so the tip was up closer to the fender, that did not help clearance. The tire gets warm by the exhuast but not hot enough to hurt anything.
