Anyone looking for a solid rear window glass?

Greetings,

I am looking for a mounting system for aftermarket 35-37" tires. Obviously it won't fit underneath. I know that I can just leave it in the bed or buy a horizontal tire mount but there goes most of my bed. The diagonal mounts usually only work with a 35" or less tire and I still lose my bed.

Does someone make a swing out bumper mount? Is there a replacement rear bumper that has a tire mount?

Is there a rack for the top of the cab that can support the weight of a large tire?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

Good Luck in your search. Be real careful trying to carry spares overhead. I ruined the top on a good E350 ford van doing that.

The welds between the top and the windshield frame broke and

despite 2 repair attempts it always leaked when it rained after that. I imagine the weight we were carrying, the 4 extra leaves in the rear springs, 10pr tires inflated to max recommended, and ?

all helped to contribute to the problem.

On fiberglass shell?

Has anyone tried to mount a spare tire on top of a cab-high fiberglass shell? If so did you use a Con-Fer rack, Yakima or some other brand?

Thanks

Berserker:

Check out J C Whitney catalog (or online) for a front mount hitch and accessories for carring the spare on the hitch.

Take a look in issue 24 of TDR. Andy Perreault has a rear bumper mount spare on his 96. The bumper assembly is pretty slick looking made by Rickard Engineering.

Front Spare Mount

DO NOT use a front bumper spare mount on your CTD.

The EGT's will go thru the roof from blocking airflow thru the intercooler, and will burn your diesel up.

Neither Cummins or D/C will warranty ANY engine work if you have a front bumper spare mounted.

Can't use front mount

Sorry guys,

I can't use a front mount anyway. Take a look at my sig or puctures on "Reader's Rigs". I have a Warn winch and mounting system.

I'll have to dig my old TDR's out of storage (just moved). That might be the best way to go. Does anyone have any on-line pics of rear bumper mount tires?

Thanks

Awesome

Now that's one fine looking bumper. :)

Now, does anybody know how to get hold of Rickard Engineering? Are we sure that's who make it?

My understanding a year ago was that Rickard Engineering is/was a one-man operation, and Mr. Rickard was ill and no longer making the bumpers.

The old address was:

Rickard Eng. & Mfg.

350 E. Orangethorpe, Unit 14

Placentia, CA 92670
