spare tire support

is there a way to add one of those through the bumper type spare tire holdups under our trucks? the stock rig has messed up the threads on the hanger bolt and I'll have to cut it off. I was hoping to replace with one of those cable crank up types.

could go to the salvage yard and grab one from another truck I guess. I wonder if one from a 2nd gen would have a similar frame width and bolt in?



I think chevy used them as well.

I used a 2nd Generation spare tire "winch" bolted to the bed floor. Works great - much better than the 1st Gen support. I picked mine up for $25 off eBay.

I had the same idea. My buddy was gonna throw his away off an '01, so I grabbed it for a future project.
